Somehow, I managed to stay conscious, as it wasn't a direct hit. Still, the impact was strong enough to give me a hard time breathing.
'Dammit... It hurts. It hurts so much.'
I wanted to just lie down for a while and close my eyes but I couldn't waste any time here. I needed to finish it now.
'...Before the next spell comes.'
I gripped my sword tightly again and started running towards Shaman. Slightly startled, it took a step back and it pointed its shaft towards me.
The next moment, a couple of wind blades appeared out of thin air and started making their way towards me.
Swish.
Swish.
'Heh... So he can cast some weak spells taking less amount of time too.'
The wind-blades flew past me. They were not at a speed I couldn't avoid.
Avoiding a few more of his low grade attacks, I soon reached close to him with my half raised sword.
The Shaman too swung its shaft at me and the long shaft slightly hit me by the side before I could reach him.
Luckily its physical power was even weaker than the other goblins and it failed to cause me any significant damage. Well, it did manage to cancel out my momentum though.
I charged at him again but this time, I already ducked down to avoid his shaft, then putting most of my remaining mana to the sword, I cut down his hand holding that shaft.
Slice!
Keaaaaaaakkkkk!!!
The shaft fell down along with half of its right hand. The Shaman screamed as if he completely lost his mind.
He charged at me with the one remaining hand punching the air like a maniac. But without magic, it was even less of a danger than a wild beast.
Slice!
With a slight effort of avoiding him, I cut its left leg and kicked him in its stomach. The Shaman fell to the ground and was shrieking in pain.
'Keeeeeeaakk! Keeeeek!'
"Now keep laughing on the other side.''
I jumped and stood up on its body, gripped my sword and thrust my sword into his head.
Pierce!
After struggling for a couple of seconds, his movement came to a stop and the large body grew cold and lifeless.
[You have killed a 'Goblin Shaman' Lvl. 16]
[You have cleared a 'Goblin Camp']
[Congratulations, you have levelled up]
[All stats increased by 3]
[Your luck has increased by 1]
'Hah... Haha... I did it. I cleared a goblin camp alone.'
I felt like dancing and crying in joy but my exhausting wasn't allowing me to that.
This was a great achievement for me. I never really believed I'd be able to do it on day.
It was all thanks to Rowan.
I now realized how good of a teacher Rowan was. Within the course of less than a month, he helped me change into a much stronger individual than I ever thought I'd be.
I checked my injuries and noticed that noticed they were much worse than I originally thought. Especially the wound near the abdomen, it seemed really serious.
'I need to get treated quickly.'
I didn't waste any time and walked towards the place where I cut the hand of the Shaman and picked up the shaft lying there.
[Staff of Goblin Shaman]
(This item is not usable)
'As expected. What a waste.'
As it was not a dungeon, the drops are generally not usable. Supporting myself with the staff, I began limping towards the place where I hid my bow and the remaining arrows. I was still scared because of what Rowan told me about the Minotaurs. And considering my poor luck, it won't be a surprise if I meet one.
Then as if the 'Mother of Luck' was laughing at me from the sky above, I felt my heart right at the throat when I saw the creature in front of me.
It was still morning, but the sun was completely up now, and amidst these sunrays , there was a large monster, at least three meters in size, with the head of a bull holding a metal club in its right and the tail swaying up and down.
'A... A Minotaur? T-there's no way... If-if I fight him in this state, there's no doubt I'll be dead.'
I felt my death standing in front of my eyes. I was dead tired to even think of something. My mind raced and the only solution I could think of was to run towards my bow.
But he already saw me.
And I knew, the moment I chose to move, that monster wouldn't stand still too.
I didn't know if he had any weaknesses like the Dark Wyvern. But I knew, no matter what I come up with right now, I can't win.
I was only able to escape from the Wyvern because he didn't think of me as much of its opponent and decided to toy with me.
But I wasn't sure the Minotaur would act like that too. Especially not after seeing the whole camp destroyed.
And so, my only option was to run.
Turning back, I decided to run haphazardly in a hope to mislead him a little.
Before I could cover even half of the distance, the Minotaur jumped right behind me and swung that heavy club. I tried taking a defensive posture with the staff but it broke into two pieces and I flew about a couple of meters away.
My mind went black and I coughed out blood immediately. My nose broke and my right eye was also bleeding too. My vision started to grow redder and redder.
'... God... Dammit... Not like... this.'
{Fast}
{Fireball}
Using my last remaining charm, I started limping again, casting Fireball to buy me even a second. I did succeed in reaching my destination but as soon as I gripped my bow, I could feel another blow coming from behind.
{Fireball}
Casting a Fireball again to block its vision, I rolled the ground to the right as the club missed me just by a few millimeters.
{Mana Borrow}
I jumped up, looked towards the Minotaur and immediately limped backwards, trying to aim while creating a distance. I couldn't even hold the bow properly and I was having a hard time seeing him clearly.
I still aimed my bow right where his eye was, and concentrated some mana into the tip of the arrow.
Twang.
And of course, I missed. It flew past him towards the camp and just when my eyes chased the missed arrow, I saw something else behind him.
'Hah... One was not enough, was it? '
I couldn't figure out if I should laugh or cry as I saw another Minotaur rushing towards me from a distance. I realized that no matter what I did, there's no way I could walk away from this alive.
'... At least you... I'll make you regret attacking me... before I die.'
{Mana Borrow}
I unsheathed my sword from my waist and poured every last bit of mana I could gather into the sword. The ethereal glow shined so brightly that even the Minotaur took a step back.
I ran towards it, bent down a little towards the front and cut down its left leg with all my strength.
Slice!
"Raaaaaaa!!!"
The Minotaur fell to the ground letting out a powerful cry.
But even with a single leg, it didn't fail to swing its club again with the other hand. And this time, I couldn't avoid it. I had no more strength left in my body.
Crash!
And I flew away even further than last time and hit the back of my head in a tree.
My vision grew darker. I was struggling to keep my eyes open. I thought of running away again but before I could come to my senses, I saw the second Minotaur standing in front of me raising his club.
'Ah... Is this it? '
I closed my eyes. My mom's face came to my mind at the last moment. Sitting beside my bed and reading different stories loudly, even though I didn't want to hear them again.
But now...
I just want to see her once again.
''Sor... ry.. mom..."
I subconsciously started counting the seconds before that metal club took my life away.
.
.
.
.
'Thud! '
.
.
"Huh??"
I opened my red and blurry eyes again and saw the Minotaur falling down by my side. There was a hole in its body where the heart was supposed to be.
Before I could realize what's going on, I saw a figure coming towards me from ahead. He was wearing a clean white shirt with black breeching and long brown worn out boots, the same outfit he had on him the day when I first met him. His left hand held a normal bow and the two fingers of his right hand gripped an arrow with diaphanous glow.
His handsome face scanned me for a while with a hint of nervousness in his eyes and soon made sigh of relief.
He stood in front of me and said in a deep voice.
"You did well"
I couldn't tell if he added something else to his praise as I passed out right at that moment. Just before closing my eyes, I could see him smiling slightly and his eyes looked a little... proud?
I couldn't see my face but I knew for sure that I was smiling as well.
