Chapter 40: Sir Jack! !

In the partially dark passage of a cave, two shadows could be seen dancing along the walls of the passage.

And if one paid rapt attention, they would hear the almost silent shuttling of feet on the crude surface of the passage grounds.

Hal and Sir Jack came to a stop in front of an opening in the walls of the passage.

Inside it, they could sense the numerous auras emanating from it, and also a particularly thick aura.

"Hmmm...so apart from the Boss monster, there are also Hobgoblins here, huh?" Sir Jack mused while scratching his beard.

"It appears so," Hal said calmly.

Huff!

Sir Jack made a sound that suggested that he was exhausted, before bringing out his Katana and said in a mid-boring voice.

"Well, let's get this over with, shall we?"

"The pleasure is all mine," Hal said with a slight smirk as he summoned his dual-blade Mystic.

With that said, they stormed the place.

The Hobgoblins, although stronger than the regular Goblins, were still weak enough to be killed by a C-rank weapon.

The Hobgoblins were scattered all around the cave interior, moving around aimlessly, but all soon stopped moving as soon as they sensed the auras of Hal and Sir Jack.

Uff! Uff!

Ke! Ke!

They made different sorts of weird noises as they started making advances towards them.

But, their advancement was quickly cut shut.

"Kieek! Keek!" They screamed as they had their heads, arms, and torsos lopped off in the most cruel way possible, leaving them no option but to fight back.

Swish! Swish! Fwiing!

Both the daggers and katana of Hal and Sir Jack moved everywhere, drawing sharp arcs in the air and sharp dashes in Hobgoblin's heads as they literally danced their way through the horde of monsters.

Their weapons created flashes of light as they brutally sliced and diced every Hobgoblin in their way.

Swish! Swish!

The Hobgoblins weren't that many, and we're just roughly past twenty in numbers, so it didn't take more than a minute for the two close-combat badasses to mush them up.

Slice!

Just as Hal slid off the head of the last Hobgoblin, he suddenly had an ominous feeling and then sensed something close to him, too close for his liking!

"Huh?"

Hal's eye widened slightly as he jumped to the side and twisted in midair, successfully evading the sneak attack.

Hal landed on the ground in a half-kneeling posture and raised his head up to look at the monster that had attacked him, his eyes formed into a tight slit.

It was another Hobgoblin, the Boss Hobgoblin.

And unlike its subordinate, it was more muscular and had a very darker shade of green.

But was that it? All because it had a darker colour and a few muscles to boot, a Hobgoblin tried to sneak attack him?

'All because you got some extra muscles, you think you special?'

'Well, you sure will die a spectacular death, for that.' Hal lampooned.

Hal didn't waste time, and as soon as he made his speculation in the briefest amount of time, he dashed away from his position.

Blitz!

The air splitted as he moved at a crazy level of speed, creating near shadow aftermarks of himself.

He was moving so fast, he became a black blur tinted with silver edges.

The Boss Hobgoblin was still standing in its formal position when Hal got to it, then.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

Countless purple lines showed vertically and horizontally across the body of the Hobgoblin.

It stood still for a moment before falling into bits of meat chunks, its intestines splattering on the floor, covering it in deep purple blood that spread around the chunks.

Hal was still in a half kneeling position, his left leg stretched in front of him, and his two hands holding the daggers in reverse grip at his back, while turned around from the dead Hobgoblin.

And as soon as the dead bits of the Hobgoblin fell, he stood up and turned to look at the nasty pieces of Hobgoblin meat chunks.

_Served it right; being cut into little bits couldn't have been a less spectacular death._

He sure did kept his word.

Tti-ring!

[You've killed the owner of this dungeon.]

[Level up!]

The sweet mechanical voice that Hal had come to love went off in his head, making the corners of his lips curve upwards.

He looked up and saw Sir Jack silently staring at him.

"What?" He blurted out.

"Nothing....just you, one special guy, that's all."

"Oh." Hal sheepishly scratched his head, not knowing what to say.

"Every time I see you fight, you just seem to always improve. Is this merely due to your re-awakening, or are you simply a Talent?" He said in a serious voice, and before Hal could answer, quickly asked again.

"Have you gone for your re-evaluation?" Which Hal replied with a stiffened No.

"No! Why?" Sir Jack literally screamed.

"You go check it as soon as possible, okay?" He commanded Hal.

"Ok, sir, when I have the time," Hal replied, trying to avoid having to go to the Organization's office anytime soon, but Sir Jack wasn't going to yield.

"No, no, not when you have time, you need to create time!"

"See, there are some serious issues that just need to be dealt with even at an inconvenient time, and this is one of such issues."

"So, you go to the Organization and have yourself re-evaluated. Is that clear?" He said in a firm voice that gave no room for arguments, using his position as a senior ranking Hunter to ensure effectiveness.

Hal had no choice but to obey.

"Ok, sir," Hal replied half-heartedly. He had hoped he wouldn't have to go for the re-evaluation anytime soon and would still have enough time of secrecy.

That way when he goes for the re-evaluation, he would have been strong enough to protect himself from any opposition that might arise.

But, hey, all hope isn't lost.

He could avoid Sir Jack for a long while until he was strong enough before going for the re-evaluation!

Hal did a little congratulatory ovation in his head, for his tactical brilliance.

But was soon thrown into a weeping stage, where his eyes sunk deeper into their sockets and his head became green as water gushed from his eye - still in his mind when Sir Jack suddenly asked for his number.

"I'm going to need it, to contact you in the future." He gave a good reason for it.

They spent some time packing all the crystals from the monsters, and when it was almost time for the return gate to appear, they prepared to leave.

"Ok, then. Let's get out of here." Sir Jack said as he parted Hal on the shoulder.

Hal....Hal just followed behind, his head dropping as he dragged the bag of crystals across his shoulders, seemingly weighed down by their weight.

'How was he going to get rid of this nice pain in the back, in the form of Sir Jack!' He wondered
