Chapter 6
Shuang'er looked stunned. Water was a precious resource now, and Huang Ming was offering her a shower? "A shower? You still have water for that?" She hadn't bathed in a week. She sniffed her clothes, grimacing at the sour smell. "Yep. Take your time," Huang Ming said, gesturing toward the bathroom. Shuang'er didn't hesitate. She hurried to the bathroom, and soon the sound of running water filled the apartment. The warm water was a luxury she hadn't experienced in days. She scrubbed every inch of her skin, savoring the sensation. As she lost herself in the comfort of the shower, Huang Ming's voice came from outside the door. "I've left some clean clothes for you, including underwear. They're by the door. Let me know if they don't fit." "Thank you," Shuang'er replied, her voice soft but audible. Huang Ming returned to the sofa, scrolling through his phone. It took Shuang'er a full half-hour to finish her shower. When she emerged, she wore a bathrobe, her hair damp and steam rising from her skin. She looked like a lotus flower fresh out of the water. Barefoot, she walked to the sofa and sat down, stretching lazily. The movement caused the neckline of her robe to shift, revealing more than she intended. Huang Ming couldn't help but notice. "Classmate, I hope you don't mind me using so much water and taking so long," Shuang'er said, her voice tinged with guilt. Huang Ming waved it off. "Don't call me 'classmate.' My name is Huang Ming. And the shower? No big deal. You can do that every day if you want." With his vast water reserves, supplying Shuang'er was a trivial matter. "Huang Ming? As in 'bright tomorrow'? How do you have so much water?" Shuang'er sat cross-legged on the sofa, leaning back to conserve her energy. "Come here, sit next to me," Huang Ming said, patting the empty spot beside him. Shuang'er blushed but obliged, moving closer. As she sat down, a natural, intoxicating scent wafted from her, enveloping Huang Ming. He subtly sniffed the air, then leaned in. "Do you want to know where I keep my supplies?" Shuang'er's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Of course! Tell me!" Huang Ming raised his empty hand and waved it in front of her. "Right here." In an instant, a sandwich appeared in his hand. He handed it to her. Shuang'er's eyes widened like saucers, her mouth hanging open in shock. "What the—? Magic? Are you a magician?"
