Silver Heart (Present Day)
Fuck it. I’ve got nothing to lose.
“I don’t have any bounties. I’m just a homeless kid who’s been working hard to make a living and trying to get a G.E.D. to get off the streets. I woke up in some crazy people’s custody last night. I have no idea how I even got to their place,” I pleaded, really wanting to run away from this freak show. “I don’t even understand how I was able to do that blood thing. You gotta believe me.”
“We must do our jobs as bounty hunters and ignore all lies,” the male growled.
Okay, the truth did not set me free. It just incriminated me more in their eyes. I need to escape. I also need to get my backpack before I leave. It contains objects that should never see the light of day…
As well as a few objects that could implicate me in some old crimes. I can’t trust anyone to dispose of them and their sentimental value is too high to trash, as messed up as that sounds.
I looked back towards the closed gate and my backpack.
