S1 E59: Hello, Bhatījē Pt. 5

Cerberus (Present Day)

Doing my job as usual, I used my gift of True Scent to determine who was before me. I touched my wet nose gently against the unusually soft skin.

The smell of frigid air and death sharply cut across my nose, sparking a pang of nostalgia for my birthplace, but the scent quickly mixed with a scent of something burning—charring—and the stickiness of fresh blood. My stomach churned. This wasn’t the blood of a fresh kill. This was something crueler… I pressed my power for more information and my vision clouded momentarily as the theater of my mind hummed to life, slowly breaking down each scent.

A lush forest appeared in my mind's eye as ancient images flashed too quickly to comprehend before melting into stone with a carving of a scarab. Prayers and screams rang in my ears, chanting and cursing a single name.
