Chapter 9
Duncan
As soon as I got off the phone with Lucas, the door to my office opened and in barreled Sabrina, her olive face sullen.
She was wearing a white tank top and blue jean that had the word Daddy's favorite on it and a black jean.
I groaned internally. I already knew what this was about.
"Is there a problem, Sabrina?" I asked, bringing my glass of coke to my lips and taking a sip…
"You want to fuck her, don't you?"
She scowled, storming towards me and only stopping in front of my desk, her face contouring into a snarl.
I knew exactly who she was talking about but I wasn't about to make it easy for her.
"Who are we talking about?"
I asked, my eyes leveled.
"The little accountant bitch, who the fuck else?" she snapped, her tone dripping with frustration.
"You might want to watch your tone, Sabrina, remember who you are talking to," I said calmy
"No, this is ridiculous. You have a hum…" she suddenly stopped talking as I
I rose abruptly from my chair and walked over to her, my steps deliberate, my eye pinning her down.
She moved backwards but I was fast.
I grabbed her by her hair and she winced.
"Have we forgotten our place again, Sabrina?" I asked in a dangerously calm tone that seemed to run down her spine.
"I'm sorry," she stuttered, shooting her hands up to minimize the pain.
"State your problem without being a little brat," I spat and let go of her hair.
She stumbled, almost falling to the ground but catching herself just in time.
"I'm sorry… I'm just worried, You have a human in the house. How can you be interested in a human? You hate them! And her of all humans. She's dangerous and will bring this place down… I just don't understand why you want her?"
She yelled again but quickly realized her mistake and clamped her mouth shut.
Sabrina was right. Anna Reed was dangerous to have around but we needed the help and she was the best at what she did. She was also regrettably my mate that I couldn't seem to resist. Rejection was a good option but I was too intrigued to do that.
"And who says I am?"
Sabrina pursed her lips into a thin line.
"You! when you called her name instead when I was sucking you off,"
She pouted.
"Are you jealous, pumpkin, is that the problem?"
I asked, a smirk forming on my lips.
"What I feel about this situation is not the issue. We have a human in the house. That's dangerous, why are you so calm about it?!"
"I understand your grievance, Sabrina but rest assured that I know what I am doing. Besides, we need her to take the humans off our tail and cover up our tracks. She's a great means to an end until we can find her replacement.*
"It doesn't look like you plan on replacing her, I mean, she's practical one of I now..she has her own office, her room,"
"Indian but she is still on trial,"
"Aha, so you don't trust her either! Why then are you keeping her around. Is it for some quick satisfaction?"
I sucked in a breath and my grip tightened around my drink.
The truth was I had no idea why I was keeping Anna around Yes, she was my mate and I wanted to keep around and we needed her set of skills. I had even done a background check on her and everything has come clean. She was an orphan that bounced from foster care to foster care, got in ttouble for petty thief and had been in jail once or twice.
That should have been enough to trustbhwe but something about the information seemed too structured. It was the right amount of clean and dirty.
Maybe I was being paranoid as usual.
"I have told you, Sabrina. She is a means to an end… one you shouldn't be worrying about."
"Do you want me to get rid of her and get someone to do this?"
I chuckled at that.
"Thank you for your concern, Sabrina but I think you should stick to what you are good at and that's phkGkgggleasing to me or have you forgotten? Besides with the mission she's on, i very much doubt she'd make out alive."
Sabrina blinked.
"You sent her on a mission to die?"
"Trust is our number one policy, Sabrina. I'm not about to trust a human with my business,""
A human that also happened to be my mate…
My nose flared at the thought of her being dead. Her death would be a huge blow especially since we needed he expertise but we could always find someone else to do it.
Sabrina chuckled, shaking her head in disbelief. "Why didn't you say so before? You had me worried over a dead human,"
I grinned. Roberto would be furious but he would forgive me eventually.
She was after all just a human and nothing more Roberto loved her like his daughter for some reason but he would eventually get over her death.
He knew exactly what he was getting himself into when he brought me a human.
"I am nothing if not efficient,"
"That you are, Boss, that you are."
She walked towards me, he hips swaying and her eyelashes bating at me like a a bat about to take off.
He sultry smile sent blood rushing to my cock and I pulled close as she straddled me.
"I guess I'm number one again, huh?" she Said before pressing her lips into mine.
I missed her back but the only image in my mind was Anna Reed.
Fucking bitch.
