When Jack heard the voice he felt as if his brain had been clawed at by an animal, and he instinctively knew that this voice wasn't supposed to be heard by humans.
"AAAGGHHHHHHHH!!"
Rielle started screaming upon hearing the voice. She covered her ears with her hands while falling onto the floor curling into a ball while still painfully screaming. She starts scratching her face leaving shallow marks all across it.
The voice spoke again the pain becoming even worse. Jack's brain has stopped thinking about anything other than how to stop hearing this voice.
The dark pulsating glow grew stronger until it became as bright as the sun during noon.
The horrible pain slowly died down after the voice said it'd warn us. Rielle's screaming became quieter and softer until it stopped. She started breathing heavily--hyperventilating--while a deep conflict happened in her mind.
'What was that. What was that. What was that. It hurts. It hurts. It hurts. Why'd I come here. Why'd I want to become an adventurer. Why'd I do this. Why'd this happen. I don't know. I don't know. I wanna go home. I wanna go home.' Her thoughts were everywhere from the damage that the voice did to her.
"WAAAAAAAA!!! PAPA!! PAPAP!!!"
Rielle burst into uncontrollable tears. She started crying and calling for her Papa over and over again.
Jack walked up to her and brought her into a tight hug letting her cry all of her tears and rest from the ordeal she had just gone through. A few minutes later, she was in a deep sleep laying on Jacks lap.
Jack looked up at the statue with fear and a hint of curiosity. He remembered the note on the 3D map, "Beware of A______," Jack thought that Watts was referring to this statue--Andromeda. And so he decided to ask it a question because for some reason it stopped speaking.
He knelt down to pay his respects and asked his questions.
"Andromeda, what are you?"
The mouth's red became a deeper color and the grin stretched wider exposing more of it's terrifying teeth. When it spoke the grating screech became even more unbearable.
Blood started to trickle from Jack's ears and eyes. His brain and internal organs felt like they were being crushed and ripped apart. He believed that if he heard more he would die. He quickly asked a different question so he wouldn't here the rest of what the voice would say.
"What are you going to warn us about!!"
Jack said his question so fast he didn't know if the voice would understand, but luckily it started to change--the grin became more normal and the glow grew brighter again. The grating voice wasn't hostile anymore and Jack could withstand the pressure it exuded.
'The gifts come with a price!?' Jack was surprised that the voice would talk about gifts, and that they came with a price.
Jack got off his knee and started to prostrate, trying to appease the voice so it would answer him.
"What is the price of a gift?"
'Anything? What does that mean?'
Jack was confused by the voices answer but decided it was best not to continue with those questions.
"Why would you warn us about the price?"
The mouth's smile lessened again while the glow became almost a bright pink--boarding white--showing its hostility was almost gone.
'I still don't understand anything it's saying' Jack became even more confused because of everything the voice was saying. He didn't know what it meant when it said that he came from it.
"What are gifts, and why are they gifted to us?"
Jack thought on that answer for a long time. His head was still firmly planted on the floor with his hands placed only a few centimeters away. He thought on what the price for a gift would be and why it could be anything. He wondered why gifts were given and what the price did for The Void which gave it. He thought about how Andromeda is everything, and why he is the center and the light.
Jack thought that he wasn't fit for a gift, but that he would make sure that he is given it even if the price was to much for him to pay. He knew that he would get it. He knew that he would destroy the Galaxy Order and everyone affiliated with it. He knew he would take revenge for Watts--his brother that left him all alone to pursue his dream. Jack hated Watts. He hated that Watts left him all alone with no one but a stranger that Jack didn't know, but Jack loved him because he was Jack's only brother, and he would take revenge for him even if he head to kill a God for it to be over.
Jack looked up slightly to see the statue he was paying his respects to. To look upon the being that will help get answers for why Watt's died, so Jack had one question left that he would ask the terrifying voice.
Jack stopped prostrating and stood up to ask his final question. He wanted to ask it while looking directly at the powerful being.
"What is the v--"
Before his question finished Jack was thrown to the main door of the cathedral. The mouth of the statue's smile became so unhuman and unsettling that Jack didn't even want to look near it. Its mouth showed hundreds of sharp teeth with a black fog being released from deep within its mouth. The wings protruding from its eyes turned vertical, and became dyed in black with small dots of colors flashing brightly within them.
When Jack looked at the statue he knew he had asked the wrong question and that he become to complcent since the voice answered all of his previous questions. He felt his bones and muscles collapse under the pressure from the statue. Blood gushed from his eyes, nose, ears, and mouth as his head was being crushed.
It was just before he was flattened that the voice spoke.
The voice boomed throughout the hall and once it finished speaking Jack fell to the floor. He felt no pain--he actually felt better than when he first arrived in the prayer hall. Jack looked around for Rielle and saw that she hadn't moved a single inch from where she was laying. A sigh of relief escaped his lips as he walked over to her, and sat in the pew next to her waiting for her to wake up.
