Chapter 167: She is a Legendary Pokémon
Arthur had originally thought Suicune would want him to work for her.
Unexpectedly, that wasn't the case.
Suicune only asked for one thing.
"Your human world has invented something called Rare Candies in the last decade or so. It's said they greatly help Pokémon after consumption. For helping you this time, you will owe me two Rare Candies in the future."
"Rare Candies? How do I get them?"
Arthur clearly didn't know about something invented in the last decade or so; he hadn't seen any mention of it online either. His knowledge of this item was probably even less than Suicune's.
As for how to get them – to be honest, Suicune couldn't answer that either. If she knew, she wouldn't have passed the task to Arthur.
Instead, it was Celebi, who had mostly been responsible for acting cute, who came through this time.
"I know~ I know~"
"How do you get them?"
"The production of Rare Candies is very low, with only a few thousand produced worldwide each year. Most are internally allocated to the heads of various leagues. However, those T1 level major competitions in your region usually offer a few as championship prizes. It's been like this for several consecutive tournaments."
Upon hearing that only a few thousand Rare Candies were produced worldwide each year, Arthur immediately recognized the rarity of this item!
It must be priceless!
Fortunately, there was a clear way to obtain them – win a T1 league championship.
Of course, winning a T1 league was incredibly difficult!
Hadn't it been over thirty years since Kubfu last won a World Cup equivalent?
Still, this was better than searching aimlessly like a headless fly.
No treasure was as precious as his own Pokémon.
Two candies in exchange for the identities of Specter and Mismagius – Arthur accepted.
"Alright, I agree! However, I can only promise to do my best for this matter and cannot guarantee anything for now."
Suicune was quite magnanimous.
"It's alright, I trust Heavenly King Arthur's reputation. I can wait. Just give me an update within twenty years."
Long-lived species certainly spoke with grandeur; twenty years mentioned without batting an eye.
Arthur couldn't help but feel a little envious…
"Then let's go, to your human world."
After settling the terms, Suicune didn't dally and immediately suggested they depart.
She tilted her head back and sang a melody. The soaring tune drifted far from Jun Tian Peak, rustling the leaves in the forest.
Before long, countless responses echoed from the mountains.
A group of giant Pidgeot, with wingspans of five to six meters, were the first to fly to the upper reaches of the waterfall, landing respectfully before Suicune.
Legendary Pokémon, aided by the laws of heaven and earth, were naturally skilled at commanding ordinary Pokémon. Coupled with Suicune's innate ability to purify water sources, her prestige in this mountainous region was extremely high, and many Pokémon willingly served her.
This flock of Pidgeot were her loyal followers.
"Ride them. It's faster than you walking down the mountain."
Arthur didn't refuse. He leaped up and onto the back of one of the Pidgeot.
Honedge could float on its own; Frogadier and Little Lapras had to be temporarily returned to their Poké Balls.
As for the smallest, Little Eevee, it could continue to curl up in Arthur's arms, with Specter and Mismagius floating on either side to shield him from the wind – undoubtedly the best treatment.
This youngest little fellow was now the new favorite in Arthur's team; everyone took good care of him.
Only Suicune insisted on riding a different Pidgeot and refused to even change back to her original form during the journey.
Arthur's Eevee, no matter how small, she deemed dangerous!
This made Little Eevee, nestled in Arthur's arms, inexplicably dejected.
He didn't quite understand why the goddess-like big sister disliked Eevees so much. Weren't they all rather similar in appearance?
Fortunately, this confusion was soon diluted by the excitement of flying for the first time.
As a land-dwelling Pokémon, this was Little Eevee's first time soaring high into the sky!
With an eagle's cry, the ground rapidly receded. The sky became unprecedentedly clear, and looking up, the white clouds seemed to be right overhead.
Little Eevee wasn't scared at all; instead, it yelped "woo woo" excitedly, adapting to this thrilling experience extremely quickly.
Arthur held him with one hand and stroked his fluffy nape with the other, smiling with gratification.
This little fellow was truly brave!
Not a bit scared on his first flight. For a Pokémon already planned to be developed as a battle companion, this was undoubtedly a good thing.
This fearless nature was just like its ancestor – Arthur thought without reason.
Of course, it would be best if it didn't resemble its ancestor in certain other aspects…
Otherwise, he'd be exhausted cleaning up messes again in this life.
Flying was indeed faster than running, especially in complex mountainous terrain.
Arthur had spent several days hiking and climbing on his way there; the return trip by Pidgeot took only a few hours.
Before evening arrived, the two large birds landed on the border between the conservation area and the Ming Province scenic area.
After dismounting, Arthur, accompanied by Suicune, took a vehicle to the nearest city's Pokémon Center.
Along the way, their pairing had a nearly one hundred percent head-turn rate!
Suicune's human form was ethereal, her beauty and aura one in a million, more dazzling than any celebrity.
Especially the anti-gravity white ribbon behind her back, which constantly floated around the back of her head in a pose that would make Newton furious, made every passerby instinctively think of a goddess descended to the mortal world.
In contrast, Arthur's appearance was quite shabby.
After all, he had been in the mountains for so many days, trekking through wilderness, his trouser cuffs and shoes all blackened and unchanged. No matter how good his underlying features were, they couldn't withstand such rough treatment.
This combination of a goddess and a "cowherd" was exceptionally eye-catching.
Walking down the street, they frequently drew stares.
"Are they filming a movie somewhere? That woman is gorgeous."
"It's just that the attendant next to her is too sloppy. Honestly, even extras should pay attention to personal hygiene!"
"Exactly! Isn't he afraid of dirtying the young lady's hands!"
"He dares to hold the fairy sister's hand?! The nerve of him!"
Arthur hadn't paid much attention initially.
However, he had underestimated the speed of information dissemination in the internet age.
When the first person they encountered on the road thought to take out their phone, snap a picture, and post it on their social media, the news quickly exploded online!
Thus, when they later got out of the vehicle and arrived at the Pokémon Center entrance, Arthur looked at the surging crowd in front of him and scratched his head in bewilderment.
"Why are there so many people here today?"
Suicune didn't respond.
She rarely visited the human world, so she had no idea how powerful an appeal this casually created female form of hers had on the otaku of this era.
Moving slowly through the crowd, Arthur and Suicune took over ten minutes to finally get from the Pokémon Center entrance to the main hall counter.
Arthur had never felt the Pokémon Center's lobby to be so vast as he did today!
Arriving at the counter, he stated their purpose: to register two wild Pokémon brought out from the conservation area.
The receptionist, as expected, showed a troubled expression.
Fortunately, this wasn't Arthur's first time doing this; he had experience.
"It's alright, just go ahead and report to your superiors as per normal procedure. I understand the process.
Although Gengar and Mismagius's clans don't have any other ghosts now, I've brought the person in charge of that conservation area with me. I believe she can definitely prove their identities."
The receptionist couldn't help but wear an expression that said, "I don't understand what you're saying, but I'm thoroughly mind-blown."
"The person in charge you're referring to is?"
"The one right next to me."
"But how can a human be the person in charge of a nature reserve? Little brother, you must be joking."
The receptionist thought Arthur was kidding.
However, his next sentence directly ignited the entire Pokémon Center.
"She's not human. She's the Legendary Pokémon, Suicune."
