Chapter 11: Help! I'm in a Love Triangle with My Maid and a Vampire Duke!
Step One: Panic. Just Panic.
I was officially losing my mind.
My choices were:
1. Marry the vampire duke.
2. Fake-date my maid.
3. Jump out the window and flee to another country.
Honestly, Option 3 was looking real good right now.
"L-Let's all calm down," I stammered. "There's no need for hasty decisions."
Damian raised an eyebrow. "You threw a muffin at me. I don't think you understand the concept of 'not hasty.'"
Lila snickered. TRAITOR.
Step Two: Try to Negotiate (And Fail Miserably)
I took a deep breath. Okay, Seraphina. Time to think.
I turned to Damian. "What do I have to do to get out of this marriage?"
He tilted his head. "Nothing."
I blinked. "Excuse me?"
"You don't have to do anything." His smirk widened. "Because you're not getting out of it."
I felt actual rage.
"THAT'S NOT HOW DEALS WORK!"
He shrugged. "It is when I'm the one making them."
I hate him. I hate him so much.
Step Three: Get Betrayed By My Own Maid
I turned to Lila. "Help me."
Lila tapped her chin. "Hmm… I don't know, my lady. Being a duchess sounds pretty nice."
…
SHE WAS ENJOYING THIS.
"I thought you were on my side!" I hissed.
She smiled. "I am. I'm on the side that's funniest."
OH MY GOD.
Step Four: Make a Dramatic Escape
I had one option left.
I ran for the window.
Unfortunately—
Damian caught my wrist.
He pulled me back.
Into his arms.
OH NO.
Step Five: Why Is This Stupid Vampire So Hot?
His breath was warm against my ear.
"You're not running from me, Seraphina," he murmured.
I forgot how to breathe.
Lila, in the background, was fake swooning.
I was about to combust.
Step Six: Accept My Fate
"…Fine," I muttered. "I won't run."
Damian smirked. "Good girl."
I will stab him.
Lila sighed dramatically. "Ah, the tension. If only I weren't the third wheel."
I groaned. Why is my life like this?!
