Drake continued on his way. As he bit into the fries and burger, he couldn't help but praise the guys that came up with these recipes. Their genius in the art of cuisine must definitely have been a gift from God almighty.
By the time he was done with his meal, he had arrived at his destination, the Obsidian Palace.
The Obsidian Palace was a major power in the human empire. The company had hands in everything; from communications to transportation and teleportation, marketing to real estate, you name it. It was a very popular business and had a branch in every city no matter how small.
He soon arrived at his destination; Drake was standing in front of a tall fifty floored story building that looked as if it was completely built from black crystal.
As he stood before the staircases that lead to the magnificent breathtaking gates, he couldn't help but nod his head in approval of the artistic sense of the architect that designed it.
It was no wonder Obsidian palace was one of the top business establishments in the Empire.
A large plaque hung above the entrance inscribed with the characters 'OBSIDIAN PALACE' in beautiful imposing calligraphy. Customers and staff entered and exited the building through the gates where four guards armed with cold glinting metallic swords, dressed in intimidating crystal black armor. If you didn't know they were people you would think they were sculptures carved from the same material as the building.
"Hey you're that guy!"
Just as Drake was still admiring the building, when a voice sounded beside him attracting his attention. He looked over only to find the green dressed young lady he had met earlier walking over, a beautiful smile on her face.
"Sylvia?" Drake was surprised, he hadn't expected to run into her here, 'What is she doing here? Was she following me?' but he didn't say that out loud.
"You left too abruptly last time, and I couldn't find you anywhere even after searching for so long. I don't even know your name." she said as she approached.
Drake shook his head at her words. Of course she wouldn't find him. "Well you found me. But I'm a little busy right now so maybe we can talk later."
"You have business with the Obsidian Palace?"
"Yes."
"Oh? My aunt works at this branch of the Obsidian Palace."
"Does she?" This was quite the surprise but then again she did look like she was related to some bigwig. It turns out she's related to someone that works at Obsidian Palace.
"I know! I could introduce you to my aunt. She'll definitely help you with whatever you need Come on!"
"Wait I…" Drake was about to interject but she had already turned and walked straight for the gates so he stopped himself. Shaking his head he followed behind her. 'since she was so determined then he wouldn't refuse, or that wouldn't be his style. Besides maybe with the help of her aunt he could finish what brought him here sooner.' He thought.
The Obsidian Palace was not only majestic on the outside, but also beautiful on the inside. Everything from the pale yellow walls to the decorations and adornments were perfectly set up to give the customers a feeling of comfort.
The two talked as they walked through the reception hall of the Obsidian palace coming up to an elevator and Sylvia quickly put in the number for the floor they were headed to.
As they spoke, Drake soon found out that Sylvia was an extremely smart girl excelling in her knowledge and mindset in business.
One thing that startled Drake though was when she said. "I'm a mage"
"What!" Drake quickly used his magic eyes, and lo-and-behold, he really could see the magic energy present around her. "For real?"
"Hehe, I'm a Wind Godslayer." She said very smug when she saw the look on his face.
As he looked at that pure carefree attitude she had he smiled softly. "I guess that explains your personality. You really are like the wind."
"The wind?" Sylvia did not understand.
"Wind is free! Wind is unrestrained!" he said softly, then turned to her. "That is just like you."
Drake was surprised, 'To think she is a mage herself with a Wind affinity.' This came as quite the shocker to Drake, he had only just become a mage, and even though there were mages in the black clan he hardly ever had any contact with them. Yet, he had run into a mage right after stepping out of the clan.
'Is this what it means when people say, 'People from different worlds live separately, and once you gain the qualifications of a certain world, you start making contact with people from the same world?'
Once you became a business man you step into the business world. At that time even without trying you will naturally come in contact with other businessmen. This was the same for royalty and nobles.
But one thing baffled him though, if she was actually a mage, then how could those pickpockets successfully get away with stealing from her, why didn't she handle them.
"It's because I'm a one star mage. But also because I'm a special type of mage, I am categorized under something called a god slayer."
'God slayer, what's that? It sounds like something out of Fairy tail.' He thought.
"I already sent a message to my aunt about what happened earlier." she said as she led him out of the elevator.
They soon arrived in front of a set of double doors and Sylvia went to push them open. "Oh and I should probably have told you already, my aunt is the one in charge of management in this place."
'Huh, wait what?'
Drake's brain stopped working at her last words not sure he was hearing correctly, he wanted to ask her to clarify that again but it was too late she had already opened and stepped through the doors.
"Aunt, I'm back!" he heard her calling out and another voice responded. "Sylvia, I was wondering when you would walk in. are you alright?"
Drake followed in after stopping for a few seconds.
It was a nicely laid out office with images of several certificates posted on the walls, here were a few boxes in shelves to his left and a large television screen to his right, and seated at an office table with a hologram she had been reading through was a beautiful woman in a similar green dress to Sylvia, only hers went all the way down to her feet covering her ankles.
She had her beautiful black hair tied up in a bun exposing her slender neck that was adorned with a golden necklace with a chess piece depicted. It was a Rook.
She had a mature aura of an experienced business woman and a gentle motherly smile was across her lips.
Drake observed this woman beautiful face, "Slender figure, ample sized chest, nice curves I'll say 98, damn If the genes keep getting better by the generation then I'm afraid the empire will be at stake in the next generation."
"So, you're the young man that my niece mentioned. Not bad, you really do have the face for a knight in shining armor." She said and walked around her table.
"You over praise me luv. I thought it would only be Sylvia but after laying eyes on you I'm sure of it now. Your family must be descendants of Cleopatra and if not then your genes must have some relation to Helen of Troy."
"Oh? He has a silver tongue too! I like you more and more. I'm Anna, nice to meet you." She said and offered a professional business hand shake.
Drake gladly accepted the gesture. 'Her hands are really soft ' he thought, but responded with "Drake! The pleasure is all mine"
They talked for a minute, mostly exchanging pleasantries. in this time Drake found out that Anna was actually someone of special status. She was the manager of this branch of the Obsidian Palace. She offered him a seat but he kindly refused saying he had other things to attend to and couldn't stay.
She nodded "You have business with Obsidian palace?
"Yes, I was hoping I could get myself a Sky link."
"Sky link, you don't own one?" Sylvia asked surprised. 'What living person in this day and age did not own a Sky link? Even children at five would have a Sky link of their own.
"Let's just say, the one I had got broken so I want to get a new one."
"You're a mage?" She was surprised, she herself was a mage and even though not one at the peak, she still considered herself to be very powerful. Yet, she could not sense the fluctuations of his magic energy.
"What makes you think I'm a mage?" his magic energy was hidden in the seal so the fluctuations of his magic power were undetectable. So how was she able to tell that he was a mage?
"Regular people can't break their Sky links under normal condition. Mages on the other hand sometimes break their Sky links, especially the ones that aren't specially issued. So I guessed you're a mage but I'm not detecting any magic energy from you."
Drake finally understood and released his magic energy from the seal, he only revealed the standard bluish energy but that was enough.
Sylvia walked over staring closer at Drake, she was soon able to detect the presence of magic energy around him. How did you do that? Wait, don't answer that. Its rude to ask about something that is related to your secrets." She was astonished, but she still managed to control herself.
It's alright, there's nothing to hide. This is just a special property of my magic power. He shrugged before retracting his energy.
Anna nodded, but before she could say anything else, the disordered sound of rushing footsteps approaching outside the door.
Mom!
Mom!
Suddenly, two people appeared in the room. "Is that instant transmission?" Drake asked inwardly, he could still feel the remnant magic energy they emitted.
(WN: instant transmission is a teleportation power from the 'Dragon Ball' series. Goku learnt it from planet Yardrat.)
