Chapter 12 : The Secretive Client – The Black Car & The Bodyguards

When they arrived at the location given in the email, they found themselves standing in an empty parking lot, surrounded by warehouses.

Then, out of nowhere, a long, black limousine rolled up and stopped in front of them.

The doors didn't open immediately. Instead, five huge bodyguards in black suits stepped out first, forming a protective wall. Each of them wore sunglasses—even though it was cloudy.

Zhao Rui: "Okay… either we're meeting a billionaire or a vampire."

Liang Chen: "Maybe both."

One of the bodyguards walked up to them. He had a scar running down his cheek and a permanent scowl.

"You two are the photographers?"

Zhao Rui smiled. "Yep! Professional, skilled, and totally not scared at all!"

Liang Chen nudged him. "Why would you say that?!"

The bodyguard didn't react. He simply said, "Follow us."

Then, before they could move—

Black cloth was thrown over their heads.

"Wait, wait, WAIT!" Zhao Rui panicked. "Are we getting kidnapped, or is this just a really weird Uber ride?!"

Liang Chen sighed. "I knew this was a bad idea."

The bodyguards ignored them, guiding them into the limo while they were still blindfolded.

The Blindfolded Limo Ride – In Darkness

Sitting inside the car, still blindfolded, Zhao Rui started whispering.

Zhao Rui: "Chen… if we die today, just know—I left my secret snack stash under your bed."

Liang Chen: "I already knew about it."

Zhao Rui: "WHAT?! Then why didn't you eat it?"

Liang Chen: "Because it was all expired."

Zhao Rui: "…I feel so betrayed right now."

A deep cough from one of the bodyguards reminded them that they were not alone.

Liang Chen: "Whispering Shut up. We're supposed to be professionals."

Zhao Rui: "Also whispering Professionals don't get blindfolded like criminals!"

One of the bodyguards sighed. "Will you two just be quiet?"

There was a brief silence.

Then, Zhao Rui asked, "Are we at least getting snacks?"

No one answered.

Liang Chen groaned. "We're gonna die."
