SUPREME ENCHANTMENT

Kojo walked alongside Yukio, their footsteps echoing through the quiet streets of the Capital. The waning sunlight cast long shadows behind them as they walked in silence.

He had told Yukio how he had gotten to this world. He was involved in an experiment gone wrong and explained to the best of his ability, though he hid certain details such as him being kidnapped, as well as the person overseeing the experiment, among other things. He told her that the building where the experiment was being conducted exploded, and he was caught up in it. Yuki asked the name of the ones performing the experiment, but Kojo said he didn't remember as his memories of the incident were fuzzy.

Yukio sensed that Kojo was hiding something from her, but she decided not to pry. She thought that was a traumatic experience and decided to wait until Kojo was ready to tell her.

"Yukio, can I ask you something?" Kojo spoke up, breaking the silence.

"What is it?" Yuki responded.

"Your, er, time stop ability... how does it work?" Kojo's eyes sparkled with intrigue.

(Finally, seems I can rely on you to use your brain after all.)

"That was uncalled for."

(That was very called for. You've been walking for close to fifteen minutes without coming out with any useful output. Not that I blame you; you don't say anything sensible on a normal day.)

"Why have you targeted me? What'd I do?"

Yukio chuckled.

"Well, you two seem to get along, almost like a married couple."

"(Never)," Kojo and Sysia said together. Yuki just smiled.

"The ability I used back there is a class of magic abilities. It's called a Supreme Enchantment. Possessing one of these abilities enables the wielder to bend the universe's laws and rend existence itself."

Kojo's eyes widened. "And you're one of them?"

Yuki nodded with a smile on her lips, putting on an air of supremacy as her hair swayed gently.

"Even among Transcendent beings, very few have Supreme Enchantments, but I happen to have three."

"Hmmm? Transcendent? What's that?" Kojo asked.

Yukio ignored the question, her gaze drifting toward the chapel.

(Based on the information gathered from the archive, there's a less than 1.01% probability of a person awakening a Supreme Enchantment. They're so rare a century can pass without anyone awakening or evolving such abilities, not even the celestial beings.)

"What's a celestial being?"

(They are spiritual beings that operate in a higher dimension or plane than this one. The first four races: the Dragonkin, Seraphs, Daemons, and Fay are celestial beings.)

"Then that means Saleem...?"

(Yes.)

"And Eden too...?"

(Aha.)

"Well damn. So what's a transcendent?" Kojo asked.

(A Transcendent Being possesses Cosmic Awareness, granting them an unparalleled understanding of the universe's intricate web of cause and effect. This awareness transcends human comprehension, allowing them to see the interconnectedness of all things. In layman's terms, it's receiving Enlightenment.)

"So Cosmic Awareness, huh? Wait, what did you mean by 'in layman's term'? Are you calling me stupid?"

(I am actually, yes.)

"You could at least try to hide it."

(It's not like you can do anything about it. Or?)

Kojo was silent for a moment as he wondered what he'd just learned.

"You're casually dropping secrets, Yukio. Shouldn't this be, like, classified information?" he said, turning to Yuki.

Yukio shrugged, her shoulders barely rising. "I feel I can trust you, Kojo."

Kojo raised an eyebrow. "That's not exactly a realistic way to make decisions. What if I'm secretly working against you?"

Yuki's smile turned mischievous. "It's not like you can do anything about it. After all, I can kill you in my sleep."

"But you're not actually going to do it, right? Right?!" Kojo asked, drawing nearer.

Yukio continued, "I mentioned Grace, one of my Supreme Enchantments. Want to know more?"

Kojo declined, "I'll see it eventually. No need to explain."

Yuki's expression turned slightly annoyed, her eyebrows furrowing.

(Okay then, just ignore the fact she has three Supreme Enchantments...)

"It's not that big of a deal."

(I knew you were slow. But I didn't think you were actually retarded. Did you hear a word she said? The ability "Rend existence itself" isn't a big deal?)

"I'm not saying that all I'm saying is...."

Yuki ignores the argument between Kojo and Sysia.

"He's not reacting," she thought.

"Three Supreme Enchantments, and he's nonchalant... Does he not understand the implications...?"

Kojo noticed Yukio's annoyance. "What's up?"

Yukio ignored him, her gaze fixed on the chapel.

"Women are complicated..." Kojo thought.

(Excuse me?) Sysia reacted to his thought, but he ignored her.

Kojo pleaded, "Yuki, tell me. What's up?"

"The sky, that's what's up," she replied.

"Huh?" Kojo looked up, confused.

Yukio sighed, her shoulders sagging.

"I was going to explain, but I won't discuss Grace or my last ability. However, I'll tell you about my second Supreme Enchantment: Clockwork Universe."

Kojo's interest piqued; he leaned in.

(Go on,) Sysia urges.

"It's kind of complicated, but basically, it gives me dominion over time," Yuki explained.

"Basically. So both you and Sysia here think I'm not intelligent?" Kojo said with a frown.

"I didn't say that," Yuki said.

(But you meant it.)

"Well...." Yuki looked away and scratched her cheek. Kojo glared at her from the corner of his eye.

(So how are you able to communicate with me?) Sysia asked.

"All existence is made up of what are called Psions – positive Negatrons and negative Positrons."

Yukio continued, "Psions are the code that makes up what is and what is not, forming the foundations of existence; physical, spiritual, and beyond. Subatomic particles, atoms, and molecules, all these things are merely the physical manifestation of the code. I'm able to hear Sysia because I can interact with the code."

Kojo's eyes widened. "That's incredible."

"Now that's the reaction I wanted," Yuki thought to herself, secretly crying with joy.

Sysia, on the other hand, began formulating theories.

(Psions.... If so,... Then that means,...

But then,... Kojo's energy construct so..... This could be crucial to understanding his abilities... If I could mimic this... Kojo's information manipulation and energy construct... but I forgot how to do it... Stupid memory lapses.)

Sysia complained as the revelation was too much for her to process at once.

Kojo teased, "Well, well, well, the omni-knowest Sysia doesn't know everything."

(Shut up.)

They approached the chapel entrance, and Yuki bowed in greeting to the guards at the gate before entering. Kojo looked up at the building before following.
