On a weekend, Sasha is sitting on a stone exposed to the sun, trying to acquire the slightest warmth. She looked exhausted and moody at the same time. She had been doing a cleaning routine and waiting for lunch before heading to class.
Sasha was deeply in thoughts, trying to remember what she had been taught the previous lesson. In her little mind, she sees the Mathematics teacher, Mr. Osaye in a blue suit. The teacher enters the class in a stylish manner and greets them. Sasha clearly remembered the deep voice saying, 'good morning class'. She finds herself responding to the greetings. "What! "Am I running mad?" Sasha said afterward.
It drew unto her that she was talking to herself. It was not usual, and I knew that something was getting messy somewhere. Talking aloud to herself was the worst thing she could imagine happening to her. Her mind switched elsewhere again, now thinking how her friends would have laughed at her if they could have witnessed it.
Sasha looked around and saw Beru at a distance. Beru was a form three students at that particular school. The school was basically a mixed boarding school, with ladies and boys boarding facilities separated, although they shared a compound. Beru, using gestures, curved his hand, sending a signal of love and intentions to Sasha, who was now glaring at him.
Still confused about the turn of events, Sasha tried to ignore Beru, who was now making a step to move closer. A warm smile automatically overpowered her face, although she was trying very hard to hide the smile and portray an unfriendly face.
Beru finally took a seat in front of her, directly facing each other. He whispered to her, "You are the most beautiful thing I have ever come across." That first statement almost took Sasha to the moon. She felt completely well. She smiled warmly and appreciated the boy.
Sasha could not sustain it any longer. Beru wisely chose nice words each time he opened her mouth to speak. She had to divert the discussion, maybe to cut the Beru from the expression of his inner heart.
"Let us take a break and talk about something meaningful", Sasha politely said. Meaningful! Beru felt disappointed for once but had to cooperate. "Do you remember what Mr. Osaye taught us the previous lesson?" Sasha asked. Beru didn't want such a discussion. He was not a talented student in matters of classwork. Although he was not comfortable with the topic, he tried his best to comment.
"Did you remember the last topic we learned?" Sasha insisted. Beru struggled to remember. He tried restarting his mind but could not remember anything. He was forced to admit that nothing had been grasped in the previous lesson, although submitting made him feel humbled.
"We learned about integral calculus, do you now remember?" Sasha asked. Beru nodded his head in agreement. "Then, give a vivid definition of the term 'integration'," Sasha asked, now becoming personal. This was the worst moment for Beru. He had approached the lady with a lot of courage but was now being humbled at a very alarming rate.
It was becoming too unfriendly to the young man. He wished the earth could break and bury him alive. He remained there, wondering what kind of woman he was seducing. It was actually like trying to cultivate on a rocky place.
"You mean even a definition of the term 'integration' you can't remember!" Sasha wondered. "Then tell me any of the ten basic formulae of integration", Sasha posed a question. Meanwhile, there was a great silence. Maybe Beru was brainstorming. Heavy thoughts raced through his little mind, trying to figure out how best he could come out of it.
Sasha could not spare him anymore. Maybe she was determined to finish him completely. "Why are your eyes glued to the ground? "Are you shy now? "Or maybe you are not comfortable with this conversation?" She asked. Beru shamelessly nodded his head in agreement, accepting being uncomfortable with the classroom conversation.
"Before we can change the conversation, please demonstrate for me the symbol of integration," Sasha insisted. Beru remained silent. He had nothing to contribute at all. His face was full of sweat as if from vigorous physical exercise, which literally showed the magnitude of the questions posed by the lady.
"What a useless man! ""For sure, you can't even remember the symbol of integration," Sasha wondered. "What have you just called me, useless! "No, please, be gentle", Beru responded. He felt his masculinity having been looked down upon.
Beru had to fight it till the end. He knew that giving up wouldn't work best for him.
After a short silence, he then broke out and spoke to her.
"Sasha, I have a special message for you. Please find a place in your heart and listen to me. Sasha nodded her head in agreement and asked him to go on.
"There is something to the feeling of knowing your surroundings, not seeing the color of things as they appear, but as they truly are. There is something unspoken about the dark, something I can never quite put words to. "Something terrifying yet beautiful", Beru expressed.
"What do you mean?" the lady inquired softly?
"I hope you fall in love with someone who always calls back and never lets you fall asleep thinking you're unwanted. "I hope you fall in love with someone who sees galaxies in your eyes and hears music in your heartbeats. "I hope you fall in love with someone who tickles you and makes you smile on hard days and on easy ones," he insisted.
