The Great Five Empires

It's been a year since Ryan regained his past life memories and enrolled in school to learn how to read and write.

This year has been quite fulfilling for Ryan. He has been studying in the morning and heading to the fields in the evening to help his grandfather John sow rice crops.

With abundant rain this year, the plants grew healthy. Last month was the harvesting period, and after giving 50 percent in taxes to the government officials (since the acre of planting field was supplied by a government subsidy), Grandfather John managed the rest by storing a few kilograms in the house to eat, and selling the rest to the village chief, who then sold it to grain merchants for further profits.

He sold his entire property to send his son away from the village to achieve success. Grandpa John was left with no money to survive after his son took all the money and promised to return in a few years.

Only after he adopted Ryan did the villagers gather together and pressure the village council to allocate him some land. They gave him a barren plot at the outskirts of the village to irrigate and demanded 50 percent of the harvest as rent and tax of the land.

This information is what Ryan has gathered from the villagers during his chats with them when they came to drop off their children or when they asked for his help to teach during his extra time.

Ryan had taken his final exam for his elementary studies the previous week and received his graduation approval from the teacher who had taught him throughout the year.

Starting today, he will be moving his classes to the second floor, along with others who are interested in taking additional classes. Most students aren't interested in these classes, but he will be studying the geography and law of the empire in the new class.

Early that morning, as soon as the sun rose in the east, Ryan woke up and prepared breakfast for himself and his grandfather. He ate quickly and left for school, knowing the principal was strict about discipline and wouldn't allow anyone to attend class if they arrived even a minute late.

Then he reached the school and began cleaning the classroom before the teacher arrived and waited for others to arrive.

In a few minutes, many students who had passed the first annual test and got satisfying marks, which allowed them to attend the principal classes gathered on the first floor.

Then the new students arrived with their current teacher, who instructed them to move to the second floor where the principal would meet them in a few minutes.

With just half a dozen members attending the classes, it was easy to move around and stand in the second-floor corridor without making it look crowded.

In a few minutes, the principal emerged from one of the rooms on the second floor and invited them into another room equipped with a blackboard and chalk.

Ryan watched them all enter and waited for the corridor to clear. Then, he walked over to the principal's wheelchair, pushed him up to the classroom, positioned his chair next to the board, and sat in the last row to listen to the class.

The principal observed Ryan's attentiveness through this and thought to himself that Ryan was a well-mannered kid.

"Let me introduce myself. My name is Jack. I'm the second son of the village chief and currently work as the principal of the school." The principal introduced himself.

"As you see, I'm the only educated fellow left in the village who has visited our empire capital and returned after losing my legs in an accident."

"So, I know the most about the world in this village, and I will impart my knowledge to you students who have come here to study the general geography and the empire law so you can travel and come back safely or live in the other towns," the principal stated.

"Now, I will begin with the geography of our world based on what I have learned from the books circulated in the capital cities of the empires I have visited," Jack began.

The continent we have been staying in is called the Purple Forest on the Azure continent. As you travel the world, you will see dense forests and trees on this continent.

There are a total of five mortal empires located in the purple forest area.

Each Mortal Empire is ruled by a single emperor's family, chosen by the immortal sect that controls the empire from behind the scenes.

Our village is part of the Great Wisdom Empire, with its capital city known as Wisdom City.

The Wisdom Empire is secretly controlled by Medicine Valley, as most security to the empire is provided by the cultivators of the Medicine Valley.

Individuals with spirit roots are mainly allowed to train in Medicine Valley, while those considered talentless are sent to manage the empire's territories.

Let's leave the details of the capital and the empire for another time. Today, I'll introduce the other empires.

The other four empires in the purple forest area are the Black Sword Empire, controlled by the Golden Sword Immortal Sect; the Great Earth Empire, controlled by the Thick Earth Sect; the Great Volcano Empire, controlled by the Raging Fire Sect; and finally, the Purple Crystal Empire, controlled by the Ice Jade Sect.

Except for the Purple Crystal Empire, which was ruled by an Empress who was the biological sister of the sect master of the Ice Jade Sect instead of an Emperor, the other empires were ruled by nominal emperors elected by the sect elders from the City Ruling Families.

It won't be a miracle if you see only one emperor throughout your life or if you see multiple emperors in a few short years.

As ruling the empire became a burden due to the constant change of emperors, everyone came together and created the Empire Law. This law must be followed even by the emperor, and no changes are allowed unless there are instructions passed from the Sect Leaders of the supporting sect or 80% of the Nobles oppose the rule and pass a bill to change it.

Due to this, it became essential for every Citizen to learn the law as the law protected them from the Nobles and other corrupt government officials.
