Chapter 146: The HaoTian Hammer That Confronts the Pope (Part 1)
Five years slipped by in the blink of an eye.
In that time, Tianxing Academy lived up to its name as the number one academy on the continent. Every student's performance brought prestige, but nothing matched the overwhelming dominance shown during the Continental Advanced Spirit Master Tournaments. Tianxing Academy's students took the championship titles with landslide victories, led by none other than Ye Wen's younger, personally trained disciples.
These disciples, all under 20, entered the arena as Spirit Kings, inspiring admiration and jealousy from every other academy. With many rumored to have the potential to achieve titles of their own one day, Ye Wen's ten most promising disciples became known as the "Ten Elites," the most coveted protégés on the continent.
Despite this, Ye Wen soon decided not to enroll Tianxing Academy in future tournaments. Winning repeatedly at the expense of the two empires' pride clashed with his goal of staying discreet. Instead, he allowed older graduating students to transfer to other academies to represent their respective nations, allowing Tianxing Academy to remain unchallenged but unobtrusive. Only a few noble students chose to transfer, with most commoners choosing to graduate from Tianxing, aware of the advantages.
As Ye Wen continued to study Douluo's world laws and his own unique techniques, Bibi Dong appeared beside him. The years had added a serene dignity to her once youthful features, softening her expression into one of refined grace.
"Ye Wen, I received word from Spirit Hall. The Pope is finally making his move," she informed him.
Ye Wen blinked, then chuckled at the timing. "So, it's finally happening? Fascinating Tang San's arrival will coincide with the birth of my children. This world is getting more and more interesting. Fate has an amusing sense of humor."
After years of trying, Ah Yin was now pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl. Even Bo Saixi was expecting a little girl of her own.
The concept of fatherhood still felt new to him, almost surreal. But more than anything, he was thrilled to witness the continuation of his legacy. Learning that Tang San's birth was imminent did pique his interest, but his children's arrival took precedence.
From Bibi Dong's information, he also knew that Qian Xunji was bringing only two other titled Douluos to capture Ah Yu.
"If not for knowing the original story, I'd think this was a gracious approach," Ye Wen mused, finding it strange that Qian Xunji was only bringing two high level Douluos. "Tang Hao is just a newly minted titled Douluo. Against Ghost Douluo and Chrysanthemum Douluo's Combined Stagnation Domain, not to mention Qian Xunji himself at level 95, it seems almost reckless on his part to even resist. Realistically, Tang Hao should have no chance. But somehow, he manages to gravely wound Qian Xunji, though he pays for it with his own injuries."
As he contemplated the events to come, a thought struck him. In the original timeline, without Bibi Dong's intervention, Qian Xunji likely would have survived, which would complicate his own plans. Glancing over at Bibi Dong, an idea crossed his mind.
"Perhaps Bibi Dong should…?"
But he quickly dismissed it. This Qian Xunji, after all, had never harmed Bibi Dong as in the original events. Asking her to kill her former teacher seemed extreme.
And yet, if Qian Xunji survived, gaining control of Spirit Hall would prove significantly harder. In the years since, Bibi Dong had matured beyond her youthful innocence, and she could sense Ye Wen's hesitation. She offered, "You're thinking of having me kill my teacher, aren't you, Ye Wen?"
Ye Wen turned, mildly surprised. To him, she was still the pure, love struck girl he remembered from years ago.
"No," he replied, "there's a way to handle Qian Xunji, but you shouldn't be involved. He was your teacher, after all."
Bibi Dong's stern expression softened, a faint smile appearing as she realized he was considering her feelings.
"It's fine," she said. "The day he threw me into the Slaughter City, he severed all ties between us. And I'm the most convenient one to handle this. No one else can approach him without raising suspicion. Besides, I want to help you create that world you've envisioned, Ye Wen."
Ye Wen was touched by the resolution in her gaze.
With her spirit power, conviction, and iron will, Bibi Dong was no longer the naive girl he'd first known. At heart, she was still gentle, but she was also willing to bear the burden of his plans.
"Are you certain?" he asked. "The moment you draw Qian Xunji's blood, there's no turning back."
"For your vision, I'd stain my hands," she replied softly.
Ye Wen sighed. Even a delicate flower could be as resolute as steel. Together, they devised a meticulous plan, discussing every detail. Throughout, Bibi Dong remained intently focused, unconsciously inching closer to him. Oblivious, Ye Wen continued to strategize, leaving her advances unnoticed.
Equipped with his final instructions, Bibi Dong left Tianxing Academy, fully aware she might not return for a long time.
As she departed, something strange flickered in her gaze a faint, dark purple glow hidden in the depths of her pupils.
Elsewhere, in a small, humble village.
Inside a crude clay house, a woman lay on a bed, drenched in sweat. By her side stood a midwife, while Tang Hao waited tensely outside, his gaze fixed on the three figures approaching in the distance.
Both sides recognized each other instantly without the need for introductions.
"Ghost Douluo, Gui Mei. Chrysanthemum Douluo, Yue Guan. Angel Douluo, Qian Xunji," Tang Hao muttered, the tension clear in his voice. "Quite the show of force to apprehend a newly titled Douluo."
