Now that he had had something to eat, he could now access all that had happened today more effectively.
The name of the Janitor that died was Cena. He was a good guy when he was still alive and didn't deserve any bit of what he got, so may his soul rest in perfect peace.
His swift death indicated that the assailant had source knowledge of where the topic began to spread but was also active.
A rumour that had just began to spread without any form of assertion had already been acted upon.
So from what happened Xavier could infer two things. One, was that he was playing in dangerous water. The person he was after wasn't joking around and had all intention to kill anyone that comes in-between them and him.
Second was more of a good news. The assailant obviously had no intention of killing him. If he wanted him dead, he probably would have done it a while ago.
Another thing was the dagger that was used on him. He had managed to get a good look at it before all were asked to disperse.
It bore a black blade ornamented with a bit of it's hilt shooting out towards the apex and wrapping into a coiled dragon handle.
The decoration on the dagger, it was similar to the ones he saw in the Syllox arsenal during weapon class. The dragon was he symbol of all Syllox institutions.
No one has access to the Syllox arsenal except the General and Mr Rhodes, their weapon insturctor.
Mr Austin was dead drunk in the staff room when the whole thing happened so it couldn't have been him.
'Speaking of him, what's that stuff I stole from his office?'
He pulled out the object from his pocket. It was only a sheer core.
He opted to give it back before he wondered wht a core was doing in his desk. It was way too dangerous to be left without proper service.
The core appeared to glow faintly infering that it was saturated. He looked a bit close and noticed the inscriptions on the aurfavce of the core. Those markings were similar to that on the orb he found in his room the other day.
'What?'
He summoned the orb in his inventory under the shield of the table cloth and compared the two.
Though they were of different color types but from the runes they bore, it was deduceable that they were for the same intended purpose.
'Was Mr Austin having nightmares too? Is he a victim of this assiliant as well?'
He wasn't sure but maybe, that the assiliant didn't know who he was. He was just shooting nightmares into major suspects hoping to draw them out from there.
That was quite stategic but not good enough.
'It takes more than a silly dream to draw me out.'
There was something peculiar about this execution. Not only was it swift and fatal but it was also anonymous. The crime was pulled off in broad daylight yet not a single lip testified to what happened.
There was nothing, no tracts, no prints , no clues. Nothing.
This guy wasn't joking around but meant business.
It was getting dark so put back the orbs in the inventory before leaving that cafeteria for a good night sleep.
On his way out, he got a call. It wasn't saved so he didn't know who was calling. He stared ominously at the comm screen wondering what stranger would be calling him by this time of tha day.
He answered the call and luckily it was just the General and for some reason he needed to see Xavier in his office right away.
He stared at the comm screen after the brief call, attaining a little bit more tension from the unusual shortage of words from the General.
''What could be so important that he will disturb me by this time and why does it have to be in his office?"
He marched up to his office with wandering thoughts of what he wanted to talk about and why it couldn't be over the comms.
He didn't even have to knock as soon as he approached his door, Ren was already waiting there peeping through the little glass opening in the door when he arrived.
He gently opened the door and let him in.
What level of urgency could demand such degree of secrecy?
Although Xavier didn't know and had know way of finding out, General Keiren knew.
He had finally confirmed his suspision and wasn't ready to disclose the news to him.
Rather he moved his discussion through another path.
"Xavier, do you know why I called you here?", the unusual lack of joviality in his tone, oozed out a bit of fear in Xavier and poised his to respond formally.
"No, sir."
"It is relative to the orb you showed he the other day. We couldn't get the guy. I suspected that someone broke an entry, so I checked the security tapes. Unfortunately, its record of that night was all wiped off."
'Just that?' A wave of relief swept through Xavier though he tried not to too obviously express it.
"I hope you are not irked in anyway. Don't worry I'll do all that's in my power to locate the culprit and being him to justice. I think I'll send some people over to your house to investigate a little to see if there is any clue to find."
"Ok, thank you sir."
Xavier left the room in irksome relief.
'Was that really what he called he for? That guy really knows how to make a guy scared. He must be senile.'
He walked away a bit flustered as he marched to the VR before the night grew darker.
But that wasn't why the General called him in.
He called him in to put an end to the question in his mind, an hypothesis proven.
While he was talking with him, he managed to conduct an experiment in his presence without him finding out and it worked.
He finally kn....
