Jin-Seok's patience snapped.
He stood abruptly, the force of his movement rattling the teacups between them.
Dan-Bi did not flinch.
That only made Jin-Seok more irritated.
"You dare toy with me?" his voice was dangerously low, his hand slamming down on the table. "You speak in riddles, you dance around the truth—do you take me for a fool, Dan-Bi?"
Dan-Bi met his gaze, still maddeningly composed.
"Of course not, Your Highness." His voice was calm—too calm. "A fool would not have noticed anything in the first place."
Jin-Seok's jaw tightened.
This man was impossible.
He could feel it—the truth dangling just beyond his grasp, so close he could almost taste it.
And Dan-Bi knew.
He knew how much Jin-Seok hated being denied.
With deliberate steps, Jin-Seok rounded the table, closing the space between them until he was mere inches away.
Still, Dan-Bi did not move.
Still, that unreadable expression remained.
Jin-Seok exhaled sharply.
His hand shot forward.
Faster than Dan-Bi could react, Jin-Seok grabbed his collar, yanking him forward just enough to break that infuriating composure.
Dan-Bi's breath hitched.
Jin-Seok smirked at the first sign of surprise.
"Is this what you wanted?" Jin-Seok murmured, voice low and heated. "To test my patience? To see how far I would go?"
Dan-Bi's fingers twitched against his sides, but he didn't fight back.
Instead—
He smirked.
And Jin-Seok hated how much that irritated him.
"Your Highness," Dan-Bi said smoothly, ignoring the way their breaths mingled, "if I wanted to test you—" he leaned just slightly closer, just enough to challenge—"I wouldn't make it this easy."
Jin-Seok stilled.
A strange heat curled at the base of his spine.
This wasn't just defiance.
This was something else.
Something dangerous.
Something he should not be feeling.
And yet—
His grip tightened, his fingers pressing into the fabric of Dan-Bi's robes.
Dan-Bi let him.
The silence between them stretched, tense and charged—
Then, suddenly—
Footsteps.
Both of them stilled.
Jin-Seok's head snapped toward the approaching sound.
Dan-Bi took that moment to pull away, adjusting his collar as if nothing had happened.
Jin-Seok clenched his jaw.
This wasn't over.
Not by a long shot.
