Chapter 2:Ophelia

~Ophelia~

"No, I'm not."

"Then what could be the reason behind this weeping?"

I sniffed in, facing her now.

"I have no where to go." My voice shook.

She was silent for some reasons.

"Where are your parents?"

"I don't know, I was abandoned."

I had to put it this way. If not, how was I supposed to explain to her I was reborn and couldn't remember many things, including where I used to live. That would've only come out weird and sounded like I'm crazy to her.

"You can take my rooftop." She muttered and my eyes widened.

She didn't mean it right?

"And I'll bring some clothes for you."

I was so overwhelmed by her kind gestures. I didn't know how much thank you could do, instead I hugged her so tightly with another pool of tears building in my eyes; tears of relieve.

"You sure you're not pregnant?" She chuckled while patting my back.

I scoffed.

"I don't even have a boyfriend." I blurted, and that seemed to be Anna speaking through me, cos it came out easily and natural. She indeed didn't have a boyfriend.

Mrs Tasha smiled and stood up.

She was such a nice woman, and her kind was rare.

"Get to work now please, no more problems and you must do a better job else I let you go." She bellowed like a boss that she was and left.

For her, I'd do a great job.

I felt determined now than ever.

I would work for her till I could start pursuing my dream career.

-----------

Weeks passed by and I was still working peacefully at Mrs Tasha's eatery.

But as time goes on, I couldn't wait anymore.

I needed to connect with my family.

This was taking too longer than expected and I was beginning to fall into depression.

I sat quietly on a desk at the rooftop, my eyes up at the sky staring intermittently at the shiny stars, and the huge beautiful buildings never failed to amaze me.

It had a great view and I never forgot to sit here every night before going to bed.

My thoughts were going haywire this night for a reason unknown to me.

Then I recalled something.

If Anna had submitted application here, then her address must be written there. Right?

I felt a bit of relieve, I was going to find Anna's home address.

The only problem now was finding where Mrs Tasha had kept it.

Worst, I couldn't wait till morning.

I took the key and went downstairs.

I was determined to find some answers this night else I might not have any sleep.

And just like a mole sneaking into someone else's room. I entered the eatery at that so late hour.

I tiptoed to not make any noise and cause Mrs Tasha running over here.

I held opened her office door, with the hope to finding it clouded on my mind.

I sighted a big file cabinet and rushed to it immediately, however, even after turning the whole cabinet upside down, I couldn't find the file.

Where could it be?

I've searched everywhere files could be, but nothing like an application from Anna.

I was exhausted and tired and worst of all frustrated.

Where else was I supposed to look? Was my little hope over?

Back to the dark again? I Would never be able to find where I live, or Lily forever.

Nobody, no family or friends, just a working girl running shift here and there.

How was life at an opharnage different from this overly miserable one.

All of a sudden, my mind was fueled with revenge.

The one who killed me must better be ready to receive her payback in million folds.

I boiled in anger.

Just as I was about giving up and made to leave, my eyes caught up on something.

I went closer and behold, it was Anna's file, laying aimlessly on top of Mrs Tasha's desk. Not a bit hidden, but I torn the whole office down for it.

I took it off, more like jerk it from the desk and dashed off, but not without closing the doors back.

I went to my room and began flipping through the papers.

Nothing much was inside the file.

Just a letter and some school results.

Just like me, Anna was just a high school leaver.

I looked closely at the address, then brought the system Mrs Tasha had given me some days back, for my end of working hours accounting.

I typed in the address and then a map was brought out for me.

It was still the same City, but a bit far from this eatery.

Why did Anna had to submit application here if it was this far from her house?

It was quiet amusing, but anyways, that was her choice.

Having found this, my mind was a bit lightened as I fell asleep minutes later.

--------------------

Today, after my morning shift, I pleaded with Mrs Tasha to give me some hours break that I needed to visit an hospital.

Being a nice person she was, she didn't object and let me go immediately.

"Please you must take care of your health. Go and come back on time." She muttered.

With that, I left.

But he called me back.

"Anna?"

I turned to look back at her.

She had smile plastered on her face.

What was it now? Mrs Tasha, the only family I had right now.

"You've been a good girl and hard-working since you came, so I got you something." She bellowed and I felt excited.

One thing was to work, and the other was your work to be appreciated. I was so happy in my blood, what could she have gotten for me.

Then I heard,

"Tada."

She brought out a phone.

A big touch screen at that.

I screamed in excitement.

"You bought me a phone!" I covered my mouth in amazement.

"I was supposed to give you this as a surprise tomorrow, but since you're going out, it's best to give you now, so you can reach out to me in case anything happened."

My eyes widened in so much excitement as I held it in my hand.

Still unable to believe it.

"You bought me a phone!" I bellowed.

"Yes Anna, you're more like a daughter to me now and beside, you look alot like her when she was still alive."

Really? Mrs Tasha used to have a daughter?

Sullen expression appeared on my face. I felt so sorry for her loss, no wonder the extra ordinary care since I came. Even though she'd pay me salary, she still made me felt so welcomed and at home.

I hugged her so tight.

"I'm sorry for your loss, Mrs Tasha, I'm truly sorry."

She had a bit of tears dropped from her eyes and I wiped it off for her.

I didn't feel like leaving anymore.

She was the family I needed, she gave me everything.

But I still needed to digged into Anna's life.

That was the only way, I could go forward.

I must figure out what made her hated her parents so much to not give me even a piece of their memories.

I patted her back gently.

"I would be back before you know it, I wouldn't stay long."

"No you must stay until the doctor say you can go, okay." She muttered and I smiled while nodding my head.

------------

After several minutes, close to an hour. I got to the street where the map said my house was located.

With my new phone, I created a GPS and began following it

Thanks to Mrs Tasha for gifting me this phone at the right time.

I was getting a bit scared now as the GPS began leading me into a shabby area.

A very shabby area of the street.

Many street boys smoking about and with their eyes red.

I wasn't sure anymore and reset the GPS again but it was still the same place.

I kept walking into the most shallowest part of the area.

Just then I heard someone called.

"Anna where did you go?"

Some guy, who looked very dangerous and not too clean spoke to me.

Does Anna speak to this people? Why did she live in such a place.

Rent are high, shouldn't she have just stayed back at home. What the f*ck was this kind of place.

"Aunt Anna?"A small cute girl called out. Her hair very dirty and tied in a very loose pony.

"How are you?" I waved at her, she was cute, just the over dirty clothes and face.

She smiled back at me.

"I'm fine Aunt Anna, you look butiful." She said in her cute way and I smiled.

Just then I noticed my GPS had stopped moving.

Which meant I was at the right place.

"Aunt Anna, are you not coming inside? You're going back?". She asked and I looked around.

She was standing in front of an old gate, and a six storey building that seemed to have thousands of people inside.

The place was rough and filled with noise of people like in a market.

How was I supposed to find the room that Anna used to live in here?

I looked at the little girl, and I squatted in front of her.

"Aunt Anna want to play a game." I said and she began running.

What was she doing.

Then I heard "Find me!"

Ow she thought it was hide and seek.

I allowed her hide and went to pick her behind a pillar she called her hiding spot.

"It's another game though, a new game." I said to her

"Okay Aunt Anna." She smiled cutely.

"Aunt Anna will call her name and you'll call yours too."
