Falling without words

Chapter 1 – Clashing Words

The sky hung heavy with clouds, a smell of rain thick in the air. Aria pulled her hoodie tighter around herself, eyes narrowing the moment she saw him.

Aiden.

Leaning casually against the café entrance, his phone in hand, as though time didn't matter. Oblivious or maybe just ignoring—the fact that he was blocking the way.

Aria let out a sigh. Of course, he was here.

As if on cue, Aiden looked up. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. "Perfect. Just what I needed today."

Aria rolled her eyes. "Believe me, I'm not exactly excited to see you either."

She tried to brush past him, but Aiden didn't budge, forcing their shoulders to brush. She glared at him. "Are you serious?"

Aiden shrugged, unbothered. "Maybe don't walk around like you own the sidewalk."

Aria's breath hitched in annoyance. "Maybe don't block the entrance like an idiot."

He laughed, clearly unfazed. "Watch it. Your brother won't be too happy if you keep talking to me like that."

Aria's gaze hardened. Of course, he had to drag Caleb into this. Aiden and her brother had been friends for years, which meant Aiden had been a part of her life far longer than she cared for. Long enough for a rivalry to form whenever Aiden irritated her, she made sure to return the favor.

"You think I care?" she snapped, stepping into the café.

Aiden slipped in right behind her, pulling out the chair across from her with a confident grin. "No, but I think you enjoy arguing with me."

She shot him a look. "Delusional."

The barista called out her name, and Aria stood, purposefully ignoring the smug expression on Aiden's face. As she walked away, she knew he was still watching her. Like always.
