Nonsense writing!

Aqua, the heroine, wasn't actually Gigi's biological cousin. In truth, she was an adopted child. Aqua was the daughter of Gigi's father's friend, who tragically died in a plane crash, leaving Aqua—their only child—an orphan.

Out of the goodness of his heart, Gigi's father took Aqua in. Had the storyline made Gigi more empathetic, the two of them might have gotten along well. But alas, the story needed drama, and Gigi still had to bully Aqua while growing up.

'I mean, there's really nothing for Gigi to be envious of when it comes to Aqua,' Gigi thought, still playing dead even as the medical staff rushed into her room. 'But then, this story wouldn't have its signature sob story.'

Click.

Gigi's brows crinkled at the sound of the door latch. Just moments ago, she'd been listening to Bubbles whimper while mumbling all sorts of nonsense.

'Geez…' Gigi sighed, keeping her eyes closed until silence finally settled over the room. "Goodness. That was close."

Slowly, she opened her eyes and sighed in relief, assuming the room was now a safe zone. But alas, when she turned her head, she nearly fell out of bed.

Seated in a chair on the other side of the room was the very reason she had played dead in the first place.

"Crap—" Gigi immediately shut her eyes again, nearly tempted to stick her tongue out like a dead fish.

"Your vitals are all normal." A gentle yet firm voice echoed in the room. It was the kind of voice that could lull anyone into a sense of calm. "All your test results came back clear, including your brain scan. So, stop playing dead."

Gigi peeked through one eye. "So, you know I'm fine… except for the amnesia?"

"You are. Except for the amnesia." The young doctor lifted his cerulean eyes over his thin, silver-rimmed glasses. "You can be discharged anytime you want."

'So, he doesn't buy that I have amnesia, huh?' Gigi cleared her throat and smiled. "Thanks."

Now, off you go.

But the handsome doctor didn't leave. He didn't even budge from his seat, just staring at her with an unsettling intensity.

Gigi instinctively leaned back, practically molding herself into the pillow. "Yes?"

"Is there anything else you want to tell me, Miss Valentine?"

"Is there something I should tell you?" she blurted out, before nodding in realization. "Ah. On your way out, could you call Bubbles and let her know I want to go home? Doctor… uh… Sevan Oceanus."

See? Lazy writing.

Gigi flashed him a bright smile, blinking a few times for good measure. But Sevan only stared back, expression unwavering.

"I'm afraid you'll have to be the one to inform them." He stood, walking toward the IV drip to adjust something. "Your parents want you to stay here until you've regained your memories."

"And the plot thickens," she muttered, massaging her temple as she tried to recall what happened next in the story.

She remembered this particular event—one of many between Aqua and Gigi. It was the classic damsel-in-distress scenario where the heroine would be saved.

And the villain must pay.

"No way in nine hells I'd let that happen," she mumbled bitterly. "Not even if pigs flew, hell froze over, and the devil himself sent me a personal invite."

Gigi ruffled her hair and looked up at Sevan. She knew "her" parents wouldn't be visiting today—they'd already come earlier and were now off searching for the best doctor to "fix" her memory loss.

Nonsense writing!

She smiled at him, watching as he finished adjusting the IV. "So, how do I get out of here?"

Sevan took a moment before responding. "You don't."

"That's bullshit. I'm an adult. I can discharge myself, right?" She blinked, unfazed by the sheer radiance of the male lead standing before her. "I want to go home," she added—and save herself by saving the heroine.

"If that's what you want." Sevan nodded. "I'll send someone with the paperwork."

With that, he turned and walked away. Gigi watched his retreating figure, scanning him from head to toe. Even his gait looked graceful.

"Male leads and their absurd perfection," she mumbled, shifting her gaze to the window. She knew she couldn't waste time lying around here when her impending doom was right around the corner.

Had Sevan not shown up, she would have already finished her discharge paperwork.

'I have to get her out of there ASAP,' she thought. 'As long as the laws in this world aren't too different from mine, Aqua won't have to spend a night in jail. And I might just save myself from a humiliating face slap by her knight in shining armor. '

Meanwhile, as Gigi schemed, Sevan paused by the door. He glanced back, studying her profile as she gazed solemnly out the window.

'That's strange,' he thought. 'I was certain she was faking her amnesia.'

And yet, Gigi had looked him in the eye without the usual salacious glint. She hadn't tried to earn his sympathy, either.

"Huh?" Gigi turned toward the door, brows furrowed. "Uh, Doctor Sevan?"

Sevan blinked slowly before saying, "Someone will come soon." Then he closed the door and walked away.

Gigi, meanwhile, narrowed her eyes. "Was he… observing me just now?" she wondered. "Did he figure out I'm not the original Gigi?"

For a moment, paranoia gripped her. But then, she shook her head and laughed.

"Impossible." She waved a hand dismissively. "How would they find out?"

---

It took less than an hour for Gigi to be discharged. Predictably, Bubbles tried to talk her out of it, warning her that her parents would worry. But Gigi had already made up her mind.

So now, Bubbles was following her out of the hospital.

"Young Miss, are you absolutely sure about this?" Bubbles jumped to her side, her voice laced with concern. "I don't think you should be discharged just yet. At least, use a wheelchair."

"Bubbles, I lost my memory, not my legs." Stopping beside the open sedan door, Gigi rested her arm on it and faced Bubbles. "The doctors said I'm fine. So, I'm fine."

"But—"

"No buts. No ifs. I'm fine." Gigi's tone left no room for argument. "Or do you not believe me?"

Bubbles hesitated before frowning. "Very well. If you say you're fine, then you're fine."

"Good!" Gigi beamed before hopping into the car. Bubbles sighed and climbed in after her.

"Young Miss, I already informed the mansion that you're coming home…" Bubbles trailed off when Gigi suddenly raised a hand, cutting her off.

"We're not going home just yet."

Deep lines formed on Bubbles' forehead. "Young Miss, if we're not going home, then… where are we going?"

Gigi's lips curled into a smirk. "To save a damsel in distress."
