Ryuzen: Firstly, I do appreciate all of you being here on such a short notice. Now then the reason for this meet is my retirement.

The crowd is in total confusion and at a loss for words

Anderson: Why now of all times, is it a problem of pay?

Arthur: We can, of course, review all the financial and political advantages thoroughly and arrive at a more mutually beneficial conclusion, if that's what you wish

Ryuzen: Yes, I was waiting for everyone to calm down. The reason isn't noble or solvable it is just that I feel like I have done everything in this field that could possibly be done and now I just want a more peaceful and less hectic lifestyle.^ I can't tell them about Project Theseus so I can't tell them about my mental state. ^

Müller: Dr. Ryuzen, Why do you think you have the authority to make 'decisions' against the will of the Vanguard? Don't take Mr. Arthur's and Mr. Anderson's respect for you for granted.

Ryuzen: Is that supposed to be a threat...Mr. Maximillian Müller?

Müller: It's me putting you back in your place, giving someone like you an equal stage with us was a mistake to begin with.

Renji: ^ This is expected. While Ryu is here as a researcher, they see him as far more valuable for his role in crisis management, planning attacks, counterattacks, and other strategic operations.^

Ryuzen: You can threaten me all you want Müller, if you think I'll back down for some half-assed threat like that from some b**ch li—

Renji: (With an exasperated all-out scream) LANGUAGE, RYU… language!.

Müller: (firm and commanding, laced with irritation) I want him constrained this second for ill-behaviour towards the Vanguard. Agnes, put him down.

Agnes charges at Ryuzen with an electric baton only to be knocked to the ground with one punch on the abdomen.

Arthur: What on earth made you think you could best Ryuzen—be it in wits or sheer brute force?

Renji:^ It's expected, Ryu could probably take on 10 soldiers and still come out unscathed. His mood is real bad he might even punch me if I were to intervene ^

Ryuzen: I don't care if you attack me politically or physically as I have now officially retired. I'm walking out right now stop me if you fucking can.

1 month after his retirement on a random day at 4:00 AM in Germany

Ryu suddenly wakes up breathing heavily

Ryuzen:  ^ Not this again, it's been a month and I'm still getting the same dream or rather nightmare. I even changed countries though, mostly just to piss off Müller. ^

ARIA: Up at 4 AM, have you had the nightmare again sir? I think it's time to go see a psychiatrist.

Ryuzen: I'm not mentally ill, you idiot. But that doesn't mean I can explain why I keep having these insane dreams—where the world turns upside down, and suddenly we're living in one hell of a fantasy land. People die. Humans are oppressed. Technology is wiped out. Magic exists for some damn reason. And every bit of science—including mine—is nothing but a lie in this screwed-up world.

But the worst part? No matter what I do, no matter how hard I fight—I die. Every. Single. Time.

ARIA: Could it possibly be a sign, as some humans believe to be the reason behind repeating dreams sir.

Ryuzen: Don't be ridiculous ARIA, if I wanted such opinions I would have had a real assistant. The most plausible explanation is that it is another side effect of Project Theseus.

On the morning of the Convergence

Ryuzen: (wakes up at 4:30 AM) ^ Can't I get one night of peaceful sleep? ^ ARIA make me a coffee, and how far did the mental signatures reading project come?

ARIA: We might be half way there sir.

Loud noises, sirens and confusions everywhere…..

Ryuzen: (wakes up reluctantly) The hell is with all the fuss (looking outside the window), why is there so much fog…...

Ryuzen has been having precognitive dreams on this exact thing for months and never once took it seriously. His drive isn't for protecting humanity or even for science but instead its regret for not taking action on his "prophecy".
