The car never seemed to stop amazing her, just how much things so medieval around there and yet some families are wealthy enough to afford the cars, the small windows of the car blow some cool air into her face and she stifles a chuckle.
The driver glances at her through the rear view mirror and she quickly recomposes herself, staring at the dense woods that surround the kingdom's capital.
Compared to the long walk she would have had to undertake to walk to the palace, the car saves her so much time and comes to a stop outside the massive palace gates.
"Please get off here ma'am, I have to go back home."
Amaris shoots him a grateful smile. "Thank you sir, please extend my gratitude to Madam Wilhelmina."
She waves as the car turns and drives off. She bangs her fists on the large doors and someone bellows from within.
"Who is there?"
"My name is Amaris, I have a letter for the Beta's eldest son, Sir. Jon."
There is no other response but the gates open just a wide crack, just enough for her to pass through with her small, slim figure.
"Thank you." But no one responds, all of the guards stone faced and alert.
The yard is large, as large as a grove full of five hundred trees before getting to the main palace building. And as rumored, there are hardly people seen around there except warriors and guards, almost like the king and his royal family has nothing to live for… and given the curse on everyone's lips, maybe they don't.
Amaris sighs and begins her long walk over to the palace.
When she finally comes to a stop out front, held by security guards again…
"Who are you?"
"My name is Amaris, I have a letter to deliver to the Beta's son, Sir. Jon" Almost like a rehearsed line.
"The Beta and his son are in conference with the King right now, hand over the letter, a messenger will have it delivered."
Amaris hesitates but she holds out the bright pink letter to the man who takes it from her, frowning visibly at the obnoxious choice of color.
"Please make sure it is delivered, my head will be on the line if I don't get it delivered."
"It will be delivered. Please leave the Palace premises now." He orders her as he hands over the letter to a standing guard, who in turn bows and goes inside the building.
Amaris bows softly before turning around. She glances up at the sun, and if she does not hurry up and get out of there, she will not be having dinner and something even worse might come with it. She has been trying to stay out of trouble for a while now but this damn detour has ruined it all for her.
It is an even longer walk from the palace to where she stays.
Choosing to run instead of waltz her way out of there, she picks up her pace, practically walk running towards the gates.
For some reason, she glances behind her and sees three guards coming behind her from the palace building.
Amaris picks up her pace, noting vividly that their eyes are on her.
Suddenly, Amaris breaks into a frightened run…
Could that rumor be true? Ladies who go in the palace don't come out the same? What could they possibly want from her?
Panicking, she drops everything in her hands and picks up her pace, running as though her life depends on it, because, it probably does.
But an ordinary lady with no wolf awakening can only run as fast as the average human.
The guards catch up with her pretty fast, blocking her way.
"I did not do anything wrong! I am just a slave!" Amaris yells as they grab her by the forearms, dragging her on the sandy road back towards the palace. "I am innocent! I just came to drop off a letter!"
Its as though she is yelling to rocks as no one stops to listen or at least tell her why this is happening, why she is being treated like a criminal.
The men dragging her pauses when they get to the front of their leader, the same one who took the letter from her before.
"You know I am innocent, please tell them to leave me alone." She pleads, on the verge of tears.
He regards her with hooded eyes for a moment before speaking, "Take her to the unwilling visitor's room."
"Yes sir!"
"What did I do?" Amaris yells as they drag her into the palace walls, her screams echoing through the walls.
