"Emily, Sarah was once your family too. If I remember correctly, she and her brother always treated you well. How could you instigate me to go after my late husband's sister, my wife?"
Emily hadn't expected Michael to contradict her for Sarah's sake. Jealousy welled up inside her, but she maintained a friendly tone:
"Michael, you've misunderstood me. That's not what I meant. I'm just worried about Sarah's disappearance and spoke without thinking. Please don't take it to heart."
But this time, Michael didn't fall for her charm. Even in haste, he wouldn't say such things.
