Chapter 5

He didn't spare me another glance, carrying Emily to the gym's guest room in full view of everyone.

Mrs. Everhart looked at me mockingly:

"See that? My son only has eyes for Emily. Even if your dead-beat brother raised my son for a few years, my son marrying you has settled that debt. Otherwise, how could you be lucky enough to be The Champ's darling, living the high life?"

"You're just a shabby nobody. You'd better leave on your own, don't drag my son down!"

Is that so?

But if it weren't for my brother and me, Michael would never have become The Champ!

I didn't argue, just said coolly:

"Don't worry, you'll get your wish."

Thinking of the divorce papers in my bag, I turned and went to the second-floor guest room.

The door wasn't fully closed. Emily lay on top of Michael, her hair disheveled and shoulders half-bare.

"Michael, the AC isn't working in here. I'm still so cold. Why don't we do some... exercise to warm up?"

Michael hesitated:

"But Sarah is still downstairs..."
