When I learned my husband only had three years left to live, I mustered the courage to have his child, a precious embodiment of our love.
Little did I know that on the very day I successfully became pregnant, I'd be kidnapped on my way home.
After being tortured for three days and nights by those people, I was placed on an operating table.
In my darkest moment of despair, I overheard my husband's voice along with a doctor's at the door:
"Mr. Harrington, do you really want to take your wife's kidney? Everyone in our circles knows how much you love each other. Do you truly intend to do this to her?"
My husband's voice was strained, but he finally said, "Melody has me to take care of her. Even if her kidney is removed, it won't affect much. But Vivienne can't afford that - if her kidney is taken, she'll be chronically ill or even die. Once Melody bears all this instead of Vivienne, I will double down on her in the future!"
I was thunderstruck.
As the doctor entered, I closed my eyes in utter despair.

The men's raucous laughter filled the dingy backroom clinic. "This bitch is tough as nails! Still fighting after three days. My legs are about to give out, haha!"
On the makeshift operating table, countless men came and went in a revolting parade.
Drugged and strapped down, I couldn't move an inch. All I could do was endure as these foul-smelling men mechanically used my body to satisfy their base urges.
"Where's the doc? Didn't he say we'd be harvesting this chick's kidney when we finished up here? Where'd he go?"
Through the cacophony of voices, I faintly heard Draven speak:
"Once they're done, you go in and take the kidney exactly as I instructed!"
The doctor's voice quavered, "Mr. Harrington, maybe we should stop this. Your wife has suffered enough already..."
"Absolutely not!" Draven's voice was firm. "
Hearing this, I completely broke down.
Draven and I had been happily married for three years.
Just this morning, I'd left for a doctor's appointment alone. Draven had insisted on driving me, saying the neighborhood wasn't safe lately and warning me to avoid taking any shortcuts.
I thought he was genuinely worried about me, but now I realize he was probably afraid the kidnappers wouldn't find me on the planned route.
Another man got off me. My limbs were already broken, that part was prolapsed, and my body had reached its limit.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through my lower abdomen. Uncontrollable spasms tore at my nether regions.
"Shit, what's that?"
The doctor rushed in from outside, took one look, and turned pale. "This is... She actually...?!"
"......"
The room fell silent. Even the kidnappers who had been laughing maniacally moments ago seemed shocked by the scene.
My child had finally left my body.
Even these animals who hadn't stopped torturing me for three days fell into silence.
At that moment, my heart was numb with extreme grief. Only tears rolled down in large drops.
When I first learned that Draven only had three years left to live to protect the fidelity of our love, I desperately nourished my body, taking all sorts of herbal medicines. That's how I was able to conceive this child so easily.
Now this child had just arrived - I had only learned the news a few days ago - and now he was leaving me in such a brutal way.
"Why did you guys stop?" Draven heard the room grow quiet and asked with confusion.
He thought the special drug injection would make me unable to hear, yet he didn't try to hide anything at all.
The doctor's voice trembled, saying almost unbearably, "Mr. Harrington, your wife, she..."
"Enough," Draven's impatient voice rang out, "Don't tell me what she looks like now! I don't want to hear it! My heart will ache to death!"
"Your wife is not doing well right now. I think we should terminate the plan and rescue her immediately," the doctor suggested.
Draven fell silent for a moment.
Just when I thought he had finally softened his heart, his voice turned ice-cold,
"Start harvesting the kidney, beginning with the heart!"
The doctor was stunned, "The heart? How can we do that, Mr. Harrington? Without a heart, your wife, she..."
"Of course I know how important the heart is. Do you think I'm not heartbroken? She's my beloved!"
Draven roared to vent his emotions, "But it must be done to this extent. If Melody can't take this for Vivienne, Vivienne will be on the brink of death, and then I'll truly die too!"
