Chapter 6

Another scene shows him standing beside Felicity, impatiently gesturing for me to use a "get out of jail free" card.

Our years of affection, in the two years since Felicity's return, have been ruthlessly trampled by him.

He, who once couldn't bear to see me upset, now recklessly uses those "get out of jail free" cards, each time without a care.

Every time, he uses this method to make me forgive him, and afterward, comes up with so-called ways to make amends.

He never thinks our relationship could be in trouble.

After all, each time he uses a "get out of jail free" card, he still symbolically buys me some gifts.

He views it as compensation for me, and a reward for my silence and compliance.

Thinking this, he opens my jewelry box.

Inside, neatly arranged, are the things he once bought, none of which I took with me.

Several identical designer bracelets, unopened makeup sets.

He thinks of the gifts he's given to Felicity, always knowing which brand of bag she prefers.
