Chapter 9

I look towards Senior Holt.

"Looks like I'll be troubling you quite a bit from now on, Senior!"

I say with a smile, showing no sign of distance despite our years apart.

"Let's head to the lab first."

I thought life would be peaceful for a while, but I didn't expect Nolan to find his way here so quickly.

On my first day at the lab, I spot Nolan's figure downstairs.

I furrow my brow, revealing an impatient look. I can't believe this guy just won't give up.

He looks like he hasn't rested well, standing alone under a tree, staring intently at the lab.

Suddenly, he turns around and sees me. He hurriedly runs over.

"Jolene, I'm so sorry!"

"I've always seen Felicity as a little sister. Even if I took care of her, it was just out of childhood sentiment. It's just that she often appeared in front of me needing my help, making me feel needed."

"But I really don't like her. You're the only one I love!"

I press my lips tightly together, watching his insincere explanation.
