The Last Message

They found it in a fractured data node, buried deep in an old server room below a Konran satellite tower.

Ren activated the corrupted panel, and a voice recording began.

Kenji's voice.

"…if you're hearing this… then I messed up. Ren, they got me. They didn't just trap me—they split me. I don't know how long I can hold on. I'm not sure if I'm… me anymore."

Static.

"...They're experimenting. Trying to see if consciousness can exist fully in the game. I think I'm the first…"

More static.

"I tried to fight. But the moment you logged out, they swarmed me. I think… I think they were waiting."

The message ended there.

Ren stood still, staring at the blank screen. His heart was racing. A lump formed in his throat.

Kenji was alive.

Or something of him was.

"I'm coming for you," Ren whispered.

He knew something is messy here...
