Chapter Four

Chapter Four

Aurora's pov

I got into my car immediately and I stepped out of Velvet Lounge without taking a last look at the lounge. I kept thinking about all that had happened the previous day that led to getting drunk and making out with a stranger while I drove back quietly.

I intentionally switched my phone off, not wanting anyone to reach me, including my best friend. I got into the Sinclair mansion and met everyone everywhere quietly. On a normal day, security officers should be trooping in and out of the mansion, but today was different as the only security officers I saw were standing behind a car.

I ignored them and hurriedly walked into the mansion hoping to escape my mom's cold words. I opened the door leading to the first living room and it was very empty. I thanked my stars and was about to climb the stairs straight into my room when I suddenly heard someone call out my name.

"Jeez! She's still around," I muttered. Immediately, I realized it was my mom's voice.

I looked around and finally saw that she was in the second living room with my father.

"Have a nice day, Mom! I will be in my room," I said.

I hadn't taken up to two steps when my father's voice suddenly stopped me in my tracks.

"Young lady, you have some explanation to do so it's better you come upstairs and explain," my father said.

"I don't have any explanation to make," I said.

"I won't repeat myself again," he said and turned to face another direction.

I thought about what he said for a while before finally climbing the second stairs towards the living room, and there they were, the latest couple in town. I turned to face my mom not caring if they ever existed.

"I'm here now, what other explanation do you want me to make apart from what happened yesterday?" I asked, folding my arms across my chest.

"So you've finally decided to come back home after leaving yesterday," I heard Celeste say, but I didn't give a damn since she got what she wanted already, which was Ethan.

"I'm talking to someone here and if you don't have anything to say, I'd better take my leave," I said.

"Have you suddenly lost your manners, Aurora? You disgraced me and your father at your supposed wedding yesterday, and instead of apologizing, you went out to God knows where, and here you come back acting all nonchalant.

We received a lot of insults from most of our guests. If Celeste wasn't around to save the day, that is how the family's name could have been on the news. Though it's on the news already, Celeste saved the day, and you need to find a way and clear your mess because people are already seeing you as some unserious person," my mom said and started pacing around all of a sudden.

As if what I went through yesterday wasn't enough, she had decided to rub it on my body this morning again.

"Find a way and fix your mess, Aurora, because I can't have people throwing insulting words at me because you are my sister," Celeste said, hissing loudly.

Ethan sat there staring at his phone pretending not to know what was going on. If I had to act according to my emotions, Ethan would have never lived to see our wedding day, which was yesterday.

"Where were you yesterday, Aurora? I'm not concerned about what happened again yesterday because I don't want the media carrying false news but you need to find a way and fix what happened yesterday," my father asked, staring at me like I was being interviewed.

I stared at everyone for a while before attempting to speak when Celeste interrupted me all of a sudden.

"I am going to answer that for her in case she decides to lie; maybe she went to a nightclub and wasted herself allowing someone to climb her yesterday," Celeste said.

"How dare you, Celeste?" I said, landing a hot slap on her cheek.

"What the heck is wrong with you? You've taken what is mine and still won't allow me to breathe or answer my questions. I am still your elder sister and I won't be treated like a piece of trash," I continued angrily.

"Oh, how did you know what you were?" Celeste asked, letting out a wicked laugh.

"What did you just say?" I asked, furiously.

"You are a piece of trash and a b*tch; you can't even keep a man and watch till I snatched him away from you. He deserves someone like me, not you, in the first place," Celeste said.

It's obvious that the hot slap I landed on her face previously wasn't that painful, that's why she had the guts to open her mouth. I was about to move closer and land her another hot slap when I suddenly felt someone hold my hand while Ethan stood in front of Celeste.

"I won't watch you slap my wife again. Get someone else to love and get over the hatred in your heart," Ethan said.

I stared at my dad, who was holding my hand, thinking he was going to stop Ethan, but instead, I was the one he turned to.

"Lay your hand on her one more time and watch me throw you into the prison gate for one month," my dad said and immediately let go of the hand, walking out of the living room angrily. My mom also did the same leaving Ethan and Celeste in front of me.

Celeste stared at me for a while before walking away with Ethan. I stared at my shadow, thinking of what my family had said, and it was best I end it all.

I walked back outside towards my car and got in without taking a glance at my room. I thought of which river I could go to but none was coming to my mind. As I passed through so many rivers, I saw people gathering outside and having a nice time.

I kept on driving till I was outside the city where I finally came across Everest River. I allowed the breeze of the flowing waters to feel my ear as I sat down inside my car. I relaxed for a bit before stepping out. I looked around, making sure no one was coming or watching me before I pulled off my slippers and held the bridge.

Ending my life now will be the best option to stay away from Celeste and Ethan and more importantly, my parents. I was about to climb the fence of the bridge when I saw two cars coming in my direction. I quickly got into my car pretending to drive away, but they drove away. I got out of my car almost immediately and climbed the fence of the bridge.

I wished someone would wake me up and tell me that all that had been happening was just a dream and the man I had considered the love of my life was at the altar waiting for me with my only sister smiling at me and my parents holding out their hands for me to hug them one last time.

Tears filled my eyes as all the events that had happened previously started flashing through my mind. Just a few minutes later, I saw an SUV car painted in black and gold coming in my direction.

I bent down, closed my ears, ready to jump off the river when I suddenly felt the car stop but that didn't prompt me from doing what I wanted. I heaved out a heavy sigh for the last time before I jumped.

A few seconds later, I felt someone holding up my hand. I looked up and saw an image of a guy. Since I had already made up my mind to end it all, I began dragging him down with me.

A few seconds later, I was hoping for my feet to touch the water so I could finally get drowned when I felt a heavy hand lifting me.
