This Hitler guy was a massive problem back in the day. Luckily I wasn't alive back then.
Right now I was walking towards the front door of Sobek's house. I wondered what activity could have him so excited about going into the sand pit again?
Opening the door I saw those luscious amber looking eyes. In full glory was her beauty. A young woman with red wine-colored hair that she ties in a messy ponytail with two loose bangs hanging on either side of her face.
She wears a white dress shirt that exposes the top of her back and shoulders along with a black jacket that is draped over her shoulders. There are also wine-colored straps with golden accents on both her jacket and thighs, and gloves of a similar shade. She has large silver rings on each of her fingers, and her gloves have silver spiderwebs on the backhand. She wears black, high waisted shorts and nylon tights, with a thigh garter on her right leg. She also wears black boots with two different lengths: the right goes over her knee, while the left goes slightly over her ankle.
"Your so beautiful." I said looking the girl right in the eyes. Remember what Sobek told you, be respectful and look them in the eyes.
"My oh my. Lord Sobek's child truly is a charmer. My name is Dalia." She said. Her voice well and truly made my day. Why does she have to be this beautiful.
"Uhmm, oh yeah my name is Yaoshi. Its a pleasure to meet you, Miss Dalia." I said doing my best to hide my anxiety as I got a hold of her hand and gave it a kiss.
"How gentlemanly of you, my child. Instead attempting to court Dalia over here, shouldn't you be more worried about the sand worms." Sobek said grabbing both our heads and pushing us ahead.
"Now that your acquainted, stop flirting and go stop the sand worms near Aswan. I already had Lord Ra send a thought dominantor to the area, they'll find you there. Dalia while your going there you will have to reach him how to use his Heka. Now you can leave." He said shooing us away. This was different, having to go fight like a soldier. Let's see what it's like.
" Lady Dalia wait up. " I said taking a light run to catch up to her.
" Do you know where Aswan is? " I ask her. For a good reason too, because I still don't know geography.
"It's north of here, around 50 kilometers. We'll probably we able to get there in 3 hours, as I will be helping you to get you unlock your Heka. " Dalia said still focused on the path ahead.
"Whats your Heka. I assume it is going to be a deed Heka." She seemed to get pretty happy hearing me ask her about Heka.
"Well my Heka is ranked at priest level and is indeed one of deed, but it is also an abundance. Which means it is an opposite of your bleeding Heka, it also means that my Heka is powered by the want to do good. Both are powered by selfishness, the want to do something because it makes you feel good. The difference is that mine will be able to heal those affected by it and yours will decay those that are affected by it. Heka's of a similar level can nullify others effects, but you don't have to worry about that, the only one who rivals your Pharoah level is dead, his name was Ramses II the greatest Pharoah of all time." Dalia was probably a bit too invested in talking about Heka's but her voice was too nice. I could listen to her for days.
" Ramses was the only one to have a double Heka with one being his Pharoah level Deed Heka, though it was abundance and not bleed and His Noble rank Heka of power. He's also the one who architected the barrier covering our entire country and sealed away Apep, for the past 3200 years. Saving the Sun from it's terror. " Dalia said and she continued to drone on and on for what felt like barely a fraction of a cycle although the sun stated otherwise.
" Oh sorry about that, I get really excited about history. If what you want to know is how to activate your Heka, just think about changing the deed of something. Like make me raise my hand and depending on your focus you will be able to overwhelm my Heka and apply yours. " She said as a yellow stave appeared in her hand.
" This is the manifestation of my Heka, a stave which all among the priest rank have as their arnament. You on the other hand should think about wearing a crown. After you get it I need you to try to block my access to my Heka with yours." Dalia said pointing her Stave at the sun.
" Well I guess it wouldn't hurt to try and activate. " I said closing my eyes to visualise the crown on my head and when I felt the weight don my head. I opened my eyes expecting to only see Dalia in front of me and maybe the crown, but there was a massive presence right behind me.
Dalia had a look of shock on her face, she looked flabbergasted. Surely what she saw couldn't be that bad is what I thought before looking behind me and seeing the same massive tree from the paper.
(Whistle) "How'd that get here." I said looking at this massive tree. Before I could touch it. It vanished and it's presence did the same. "Dalia tell me that my brain is still working as it should."
"If your talking about the tree, then it's probably your arnament. Your a Pharoah level Heka user, that's means that you should have around 2 arnaments, your crown and the other arnament which in your case is the crown and also the tree. Which is way bigger than what Ramses had btw so it's possibly stronger though that can wait. You still lack control so let's just learn, restricting cause to remove effect. "
Dalia looked even more interested in the world around her after that. I guess I did something right." Oh yeah. Let's do just that then. Do I just focus on your stave." I asked her and she seemed disappointed at what I said.
" Did you already forget what I said. I told you to focus on what I did before that. When I summoned my Heka. You are going to have to dub that is false. Which would remove the stave. Although it will be temporary until the world realises that I actually did summon that. The reason it's done this way is because removing the effect doesn't actually stop someone from summoning it again. So we are cutting of that line, by removing the fact that they can actually summon it. " Dalia said while she was drawing the explanation in the sand.
" I think I get it. Alright here we go." I said before trying to focus on when Dalia was summoning her stave and put a X on the arm that summoned the stave. Before I could open my eyes I hear Dalia scream. Opening my eyes quick I see Dalia on her knees her entire arm gone, no blood coming out though.
" Why'd you get rid of my Arm!! I told you to block my Heka not the existence of my arm. How did you even fuck it up that bad? " Dalia asked and she was fuming. I closed my eyes to try and fix the mistake I made, quickly I turned my Heka off. The crown on my head disappearing lifting a weight of my shoulders.
I opened my eyes to see Dalia's arm back where it should be." For fucks sake. That was absurdly powerful, my Heka and my entire fucking arm just disappeared. How'd you even manage to remove my entire arm." Dalia seemed pissed so I just said whatever came to mind to try and appease her.
"You look beautiful when your angry." Dalia froze. Her face bursted into a red color as she attempted to hide her face.
"What are you even talking about. Shut up!" Dalia said as she stepped back for a few seconds. She still looked a bit surprised by the compliment.
"Ah, let's not get side tracked. I have to look if your Heka might have decayed mine. A side effect that most Heka users wouldn't want to take." Dalia said as she fanned herself off with her hand.
She stuck her hand out and light poured out of her body towards her hand as she summoned her Heka. The stave manifested but it was merely half of what it was before and pieces were breaking off.
" Hmmm, it seems the decay effect is strong with this one. Lord Sobek should be able to solve this when we get back." Dalia placed her hand on her chin and looked at me.
"Hopefully that decay of yours will be able to go over a long distance. If it can't dealing with those sand worms will be a problem." She had her hand placed on my nose. A little boop she did before turning around and continuing her stride.
I raised my hand to touch where she booped me. I had this massive smile on my face. Ear to ear. I don't know what Dalia is doing to me, but I love it. "Dalia wait up." I said chasing after her.
"Couldn't you teach me some spells. I don't know any so how can I even go against these sand worm things without any." I asked her, seeing her quiet felt weird so I wanted to hear her talk.
"Well you don't need any right now. Just the decay coming off your crown should be able to eradicate the sand worms. I also can't show you any examples, because you decayed my Heka. Plus there aren't any spells for deed besides affecting cause and effect." Dalia was knowledgeable, so much more than me.
" What do you mean there aren't any spells and what even is this cause and effect thing you keep talking about. " I am confused. No spells? That would mean that Sobek was wrong, he can't be wrong. It's impossible, he's been right all along.
"Well that's what I mean, there aren't any spells for deed besides literally blocking off cause and removing effect. You could try sealing but it's nearly impossible to actually use in battle. Sealing requires you to be in contact with someone and also requires a constant amount of vitality to keep the seal going. Just keeping a seal up for a day can take up to months of vitality. It's inefficient. " Dalia seemed pretty frustrated.
"Ok, so no sealing spells that I can use without sacrificing my life, cool. If sealing takes vitality to power then what about of decay and Abundanc? What powers those? What about the cause and effect thing? What even is cause and effect." If I knew this I might be able to give more power to my decay.
"Well to decay and abundance are really just manifestations of your inner thoughts about the world. So abundance will be powered by wanting a healthy world and wanting to be the one to heal it. Decay will be powered by wanting the world to bleed by your hand. "
" Cause and Effect is the direct relationship between an action or event and its consequence or result. So like when you applied your Heka to remove the cause of my Heka's summoning and the Heka was never summoned at all. The only reason why I can't immediately summon my Heka after you block it off is because as a bleeder, you actually decayed the past of me summoning it and that affects the world to a point where it does your bidding by not allowing me to summon my Heka. If I did the same the world would steal your vitality to give extra power to my blocker. The world in this case wouldn't seal your Heka but it could take 1 of 2 paths, 1 being the vitality steal which would allow me more strength for battle and 2 would be an overflow in your vitality which would cause an imbalance and actually cause problems in the heart and soul." The sun was getting hotter and her explanations weren't getting any shorter.
" So mine removes and yours gives to someone. Cool. " I said summoning my Heka. The familiar landed on my head.
" So I theory I should be able to keep this on my head forever. Because it is powered by my desires to the world." I said before bending over to grab some sanding and attempting to give it decay.
Argh I can't. I throw the sand back into its pile. How useless.
"Yes, in theory you should, but it will drain your desire with each usage. So the more you use it the lesser your desires will become." Dalia said as she distanced herself, possibly because I was leaking my crown was literally leaking blood.
"Is this why it's called a bleeder. Seems pretty straight forward." I said reaching my hand into the drops that ran down across my face.
"Are you not disturbed by the blood. Most would be. " I focused on blood on my finger for a second drowning out whatever Dalia said. While this didn't feel any more different from the water Sobek had Given me it felt weird.
"Don't you ignore me. You oaf.". I flicked the blood off my hand onto the dirt. The moment it stained the ground, the ground seemed to cave him. The sand in a circle around the middle point of the drop of blood disappeared creating a hole.
"AHHHHHH." Seeing our footing disappear, Dalia screamed as we fell into the massive hole. Tumbling and rolling down the dunes of sand. If I could see my face I would probably be smiling. I stood up and checked the blood that should be dripping off of me.
It was still there, how weird. I swear I hit my head on the dunes. "Dalia, are you there?" I asked, there was a question I needed answered.
"Dear God, that's what just a drop of blood can do if your ranked at Pharoah? How unfair is this world." Dalia said. She sounded a bit sad. This wasn't the reaction I expected.
I stood up immediately, quickly afterward sticking my hand out to help her up." Hey Dalia, are you okay? " She grabbed onto me and got up. Her expression had already gone back to the no-problems-to-be-had face. My favourite with that pure smile of hers.
"Yeah I'm alright Yaoshi. We should get going it's almost nightfall and we still have to get to Aswan. Make sure you-." Before she could even finish her sentence a boom went off, and just as the times before my body was already out of harms way. As was Dalia.
I looked up to see a monstrous, serpentine behemoth that should slither beneath the desert sands. Its massive, segmented body—covered in thick, chitinous plates—can stretch hundreds of feet long, with a gaping maw lined with rows of razor-sharp teeth capable of grinding stone and metal alike.
"Dalia what is that!?." I said body already in motion towards Dalia. She likely didn't have much usage for Heka left considering it's decayed state.
"Its the sand worms, Lord Sobek sent us to handle. Seems that they turned to handle us here instead. They might've smelt the blood." Dalia said as she summoned her still broken stave.
Already half way, my body moves itself backward as another mass of brown pops out mouth first. Before it was even all the way out I had gotten 20 steps back.
" Could they not have waited until I actually got used to this thing." I said looking at the 2 sand worms. Their mouths wide, drooling as they felt their prey.
"Yaoshi, handle number 1 I'll get number 2." Dalia said before she literally disappeared and and appeared right beside worm number 2, with a red gauntlet donned arm. [Boost] The gauntlet screamed as she striked the worm high into the sky.
I decided to take the backseat to finally test this bodies auto-dodging ability. The worm seemed to be annoyed with our little stand off as it tried to get one over me with a tail swipe.
The vessel jumped over the little tail swipe and then I decided to handle the rest seeing as the body stood still after the first dodge. I decided to run circles around the worm.
Getting off to a great start, I felt my crown shake a little and my body back dashed. The worm slammed right into where I was going to be before swiping its head along the ground where we were. I felt my crown shake a little again before the worm seemingly slammed into a wall knocking itself back.
I wasn't going to let this chance go I swiped a hand across my face before rushing in towards the worm. I immediately braced my hand and shoved my fingers to wrist right into the worms mushy skin and unlike what the blood did to the sand. This time the worm stopped moving quick.
It's colossal carcass festered under the scorching sun, its armored plates splitting as gases bloat its husk. Its blood leaking on to the dry sand. Within moments, only a hollow exoskeleton remains—bleached and brittle.
[Congratulations on beating a Giant Sand Worm. +1 Silver item card]
Seeing the worm down and out I immediately turned around to Dalia's direction she was still busy with hers so I picked a drop of blood and flicked it onto the sand keeping me in the pit. Quickly the sand ceased to exist. Allowing me and exit towards Dalia.
[Dalia]
I have to quickly get rid of this worm. Twice critical's boost won't hold up long. I said as dodged another spew of acid from the worm and slashed along its side again. Feeling the worm get weaker I stepped sideways dodging another ground slam.
"Why are you so god damned durable." I said as I stabbed the worm again.
I might have to risk it actually. I said as I ran in front of the downed worm and gave a strong downwards strike piercing the head of the worm. P.S. after stabbing one don't hold on to your weapon. I mentally noted.
I was in the middle of being flung around by the worm as it lashed out. I had one hand gripping tight on my stave and my gauntlet hand hold knocking the stave deeper. Eventually the lashing stopped as the sand worm fell to the ground.
Landing on the ground from 20 meters in the sky wasn't a nice feeling. After a second of recovery I looked towards Yaoshi's direction but I was relieved to see him already jogging in my direction.
[Yaoshi]
"Dalia!!" I screamed as I jogged towards her. She seemed like she wasn't hurt so I wasn't too concerned thought that gauntlet she had on looked sick.
"Where'd you get that?"
"Are you alright?"
Seeing the disparity between our questions, I decided to speak. Considering hers was actual concern.
"I did pretty well, my blood made it insanely easy. I just said 'Oo' and stabbed him with a bloody hand and dead it became. How'd you do? " Dalia didn't seem to be suprised by my narration.
"Well I should've guessed your Heka could win against a sand worm of all things. Mine was pretty stressful, luckily I have this sacred gear to make up for my lack of physical abilities." Dalia said showing me her gauntlet.
"How do you have so much stuff Dalia." I asked her and she just shrugged to the question.
"I'm very lucky when it comes to receiving armaments." She said as she dismissed her gauntlet. "I'll tell you about these once we are all the way back at-" She couldn't even finish her sentence before we both looked back and saw a girl.
Bronze skin, radiant as molten dawn, glows under the relentless sun. Eyes like smoldering embers burn with unwavering devotion, framed by kohl-lined intensity. A cloak of white and gold billows behind them, embroidered with sacred solar sigils that shimmer as if touched by fire.
"Nice to meet you, child of Sobek and "Collector" Dalia. My name is Amunet, disciple of Ra." The girl said as she gave us a little bow.
________
I'm finally done with this until.
I will only be releasing every once in a while as my I'm going back to school on Tuesday. I'll be releasing when I have time but mostly on Saturday and Sunday.
Anyway how'd you like the battles. I didn't want to drag out any of them as well and truly Yaoshi had more than enough to one tap a giant worm with a handful of blood and I didn't show the entirety of dalia's fight because frankly, I still have no idea what I'm going to with Dalia. She's likely going to be important for one part of this arc but beyond that I have no idea.
As always tell me if there were any problems with my writing.
To the next chapter.
