CHAPTER 51: A Gentle Surprise

  Scarlett's POV

Why was I saddened to believe Christmas ended so...tragically? The only best part about the day was talking to Aria. I was torn and disappointed. I yearned to be with my daughter.

Just then, I jolted at the knock on my door.

I looked at the time on the phone. Who needed me so late in the night? It was almost midnight. Almost.

"Huh?" The moment I opened the door, a small card greeted me. There was no one in the corridor to my left or to my right. Curiosity got the best of me.

The card had my name on it,

  [Dear Scarlett,

This is for you to join on this adventure, the spectacle for the night! Oh ho ho!]

It was written in cursive, neat handwriting. I smiled at the invitation card.

I...didn't have the heart to turn it down. Before that, I was apprehensive about the anonymity. Who was this? The hotel staff? Did they want to celebrate with their customers? I checked the hallway for more of such cards, but it was just me.
