Scarlett's POV
The grab on my wrist came out of nowhere. One of the two brothers was holding me back; they didn't want to let me go.
My eyes teared up. This unreasonable amount of guilt and sadness was looming over me and making me unstable.
"Ryder...leave me alone." I knew it was him. The callous texture of his wrist set him apart from Dylan who had a smoother touch. I didn't even want to turn around and look in his direction.
I was afraid it would make me...stay.
"Scarlett..." Dylan came around to embrace my other palm with his. His was much worse for my heart. The touch was sincere, and he lifted my hand to meet his heart.
"Don't do that to us, please. I love you, Scarlett." Dylan said.
"I- I'm already dreading the life where I'd have to live without you, Scarlett. Don't do this to me." Ryder's voice cracked, creating a deeper lesion in my heart when I heard it.
"You'll get used to it."
