James' POV
The trial should be ongoing by now, if not even concluded; I couldn't sum up the courage to go there because I wasn't sure of what was going to happen.
I know both parties involved in this very well and neither one of them would be ready to back down. Ellie is smart, really smart, so for her to change her mind, it's going to take some extraordinary effort to do so.
Especially considering that she hates me now, so using me as bait wouldn't provide much yield, but regardless I had to let my dad have full control over this.
My assistant, however, is competent enough to go there and represent me; in any case, I'll be expecting his call right about now.
As for now, I'm just going to chill on my couch and watch a show or something, anything that'll take my mind off the case.
I found a documentary to watch but it didn't last long as a call from my assistant came in.
"Hello, deputy," I said as soon I picked up.
