  "You know you should let her go."

  The sight of Evelyn stopped me dead in my tracks.

  Seven years. Seven long, torturous years of nothing but memories to hold onto, and now she was right in front of me.

  Breathing. Alive. Just as beautiful as I remembered — maybe even more.

  I felt my chest tighten as I struggled to keep my composure. Seeing her wasn't supposed to feel like this.

  I'd prepared myself for this moment countless times, rehearsed the cold embrace I needed to show.

  But all of that crumbled the second our eyes met.

  And then Isabella's voice broke the moment.

  "You know, you should let her go."

  Let her go? As if I hadn't spent every night for the past seven years trying to do just that.
