Evelyn's POV
I froze. Yes, I froze and suddenly became cold and had wet feet all of a sudden.
For a moment, I couldn't move, couldn't breathe. The sight of Nathan's kiss was still on my lips, was like a dream I wasn't ready to wake from.
My heart was pounding so fast I thought it might burst out of my chest. I thought it was going to explode.
Nathan kissed me. Nathan actually kissed me and not just the fact that he kissed me, but the fact that it was publicly.
Publicly.
Right here in the middle of a casino—a place where secrets don't last till morning.
And it wasn't like before, when we used to hide in the shadows, stealing kisses where no one could find us.
This was bold. Reckless. And I had no idea what actually got over him.
My head was spinning, and my mind raced with several questions I didn't have answers to.
What was he doing here in the first place? Why would he kiss me now, after everything? Was it out of love, or was it something else?
