CHAPTER 9 The Unexpected Call

  Evelyn's POV

I woke up with a stretch, my arms reaching high above my head, as I lazily yawned.

As I slowly opened my eyes and sat up, a dull ache throbbed in my head.

  "Ouch," I winced.

Blinking, I looked around, taking in my surroundings. A hotel room.

  Oh my God.

  I froze.

  How did I get here?

Was I dreaming? I rubbed my eyes, trying to clear the mess from my mind. The ache in my head made it hard to focus, but one thing was certain — his scent lingered all around me.

  Nathan.

I whispered his name as my lips trembled as I spoke it.

Was it real? Or was it just a dream?

I ran my fingers across my lips, closing my eyes for a moment.

I could still feel him — the feel of his kiss, his hot body on mine. It couldn't have been a dream. It felt too real.

  But the room was empty.

  No sign of him.
