Nathan's POV
I saw the shock across Eliza's face as I told her about finding her file.
But there was something else there, something deeper, in her expression. It wasn't just my words that unsettled her; it was something more.
"Are you okay?" I asked softly, trying to read the emotions in her eyes.
"A…about your relationship with Evelyn..." she started, her voice trembling.
I raised a hand, cutting her off gently. "No, Eliza. I don't want to talk about it."
"Please, Nathan, just listen to me."
But I couldn't go there—not now.
"I need anything we can use against Alpha Sebastian Miller," I interrupted, changing the conversation.
"This isn't about Evelyn. It's about the omega trafficking. Do you have any evidence? Anything we can use to bring him down?"
"Come in," she said after a long pause, gesturing toward the door. "I think I have something."
I stepped inside and she disappeared into another room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
