CHAPTER 85 Lots Of Secrets

  Evelyn's POV

I didn't even know why I was so worried. This wasn't the first time I couldn't reach Nathan. But this time… this time it felt different.

It was like a piece of me was being taken away, as if something vital had been taken away. Ava couldn't catch his scent, and that only made it worse.

I knew Sophia or Caleb would probably think I was overreacting, but I wasn't. I swear I wasn't.

I knew what I was feeling, and it was the same feeling I'd had seven years ago.

That same cold, sinking dread that hit me the day Nathan went to battle—the battle that ripped us apart for a full seven years.

We stepped out of the bar, and Caleb unlocked his car. The cool breeze hit me as I sat in the backseat and Sophia joined me there as Caleb drove us to Nathan's warehouse.

I didn't even know where Nathan had been staying since he returned. Things hadn't been the same between us.

Not like before. Too much had changed by the time he came back.
