Evelyn's POV
I was confused.
Ava had said Nathan was inside the casino, but now we were outside, following his scent into the night.
"We've already left the casino, Ava. Where are we going?" I whispered.
"We're just following his scent, Evelyn. I have no idea where it will lead us," she answered.
That didn't calm my nerves.
I glanced behind me, scanning the area, making sure no one was watching, no one was following.
Everywhere was a bit dark and looking empty. But something about this night felt too quiet. Too still.
I turned back and kept moving. And then—
A basement. I saw a basement.
My heart stuttered in my chest.
"Oh my God," I blurted out, rushing forward.
I forced myself to stay quiet, to keep my steps light, but as I got closer, I saw them—guards. A lot of them.
It's here.
I swallowed hard, my throat suddenly went dry. "It… it must be here."
"Yes," Ava whispered.
