CHAPTER 39 Reunion

  Dylan's POV

I had been informed about an informant that had been captured, she was Alpha Kingsley's daughter, they said. But when the doors opened and the guards dragged her in, bloodied and barely conscious, the room seemed to shrink around me.

  It couldn't be.

The woman before me, though bruised and battered, was unmistakable. The auburn hair I remembered so vividly hung limp around her face, and even through the grime, her green eyes, albeit duller now, seemed to pierce right through me.

  Avery....

The moment she was brought into the chamber, I froze. My mind blanked, my carefully constructed plans slipping into chaos. It was her. Avery.

I could barely process it. The guards shoved her forward, her weakened frame barely supported by her trembling legs and she fell to her knees. Her wrists were raw from the bindings, her face marred with bruises, and her eyes... they were empty, devoid of the spark I remembered.
