CHAPTER 41 Escape

  Avery's POV

The moment the lock clicked into place, I knew I couldn't sit here and wait for Dylan to change his mind. I had spent too much of my life being told what to do, where to go, and who to trust. But this; being locked in a room like a prisoner again was the final straw.

I pressed my ear against the door, listening to the faint sounds of footsteps outside. They faded after a few moments, and I knew I had to move now. Dylan's patience with me had already thinned, and I couldn't afford to give him another reason to keep me caged.

I scanned the room for anything I could use. The windows were too high, the bed too heavy to move easily, but there was one advantage, Dylan hadn't thought to strip the room of potential disguises.
