Avery's POV
"I don't care." I said just when he thought he was getting to me. And my words left him stunned momentarily, it gave me enough time to move passed him.
I couldn't stay here. Not for another second. Every breath I took in Bloodmoon territory was a struggle, as if the very atmosphere was conspiring to hold me captive. I needed to get out. I needed to escape before it consumed me, before I lost myself completely.
I gritted my teeth, forcing my aching muscles to cooperate, and moved toward the door. Each step sent sharp protests through my limbs, a symphony of pain that resonated from my throbbing head down to my trembling toes.
My body was still weak, the lingering effects of the poison making me feel like I was walking through thick mud. But I pushed through it, ignoring the dizzying sway of the world around me, ignoring the nausea that churned in my stomach.
