  Victoria's POV

  The morning light filtered through my curtains, casting soft shadows across my desk. I stared at the scanned files before me, a glaring reminder of my failure the night before. Despite hours of searching, I had found nothing. Ethan's records were meticulous, leaving no trace of wrongdoing.

  I sighed and leaned back in my chair, pressing my fingers to my temples. There was no denying the frustration bubbling inside me, but wallowing in it wouldn't solve anything. Dominic had to know. He would know what to do next—or at least, I hoped he would.

  The thought of him sent a strange flutter through my chest, one I quickly dismissed. Yesterday had been... intense. But now, in the clarity of a new day, I couldn't afford to let those memories distract me. Dominic was my ally, nothing more. I reminded myself one again.

  I reached out and grabbed my phone.

  It was time to reach out.
