Griffin's POV
The silence in the room was comforting, but my mind churned with a thousand different thoughts. What if Evelyn suspected that I had taken Ethan? Would Nolan try to take him back and wage a war? That infuriated me, and I knew I didn't have much time. I needed to get blood from the child before my chance was taken away yet again.
I watched his chest rise and fall as Ethan slept peacefully, unaware of what was happening around him. I remembered how happy I had been once with Evelyn and Ethan, but then I remembered why I was doing this.
Suddenly, a soft knock at the door broke the stillness. I shifted in my chair as panic swirled in my gut. I hoped that was not my father. I knew he would go mentally if I knew what I had done. He didn't want Mystic River to declare war upon us. He could not know that Ethan was here.
"Who is it?" I called out, trying to keep my composure.
