CHAPTER 46: The Truth?

  Evelyn's POV

I stood before my Alpha mate, Nolan. I couldn't meet his questioning glare. I felt Harper whine from the back of my mind. Swallowing hard, I composed myself. I knew what Harper was going to say. We should have told Nolan the truth from the start. I wanted to block my wolf out but knew she was right. Tristan was showing his attempts to take control of Nolan. I could feel the tension radiating from him.

"Evelyn, you better speak up." I heard Nolan growl. I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out.

"Why would this have anything to do with Griffin? My deadly enemy. Why is this any of his concern?" Nolan's words make me wince.

"I - I didn't mean to say that." I finally managed to say, forcing the words past the lump that had stubbornly formed in my throat.

"Evelyn, you're lying to me. Don't lie to me. This is our son at risk. You better tell me the darn truth now. You are my mate, and I think I deserve to know the truth." He demanded.
