CHAPTER 55 Back to the City

  Griffin's POV

My mind was playing stupid tricks on me, there was nothing there. I perched against the old oak tree and the chill in the air felt like some kind of a warning.

I needed to get Ethan back into the city and get the blood vial to where it needed to be.

"Ethan, do you remember how you loved the city? The one with the really tall buildings and the park that we used to go to?" I began softly.

His wide eyes brightened as he recalled the days, a small smile spread across his face. "I remember, can we go there again? Please?" He exclaimed causing me to chuckle, forgetting my worries for a slight moment.

"Is mummy waiting for us there?" He suddenly asked, his face turning serious.

"Of course," I replied, trying to hide the worry in my voice. My stomach twisted at the mention of her.

"How will we get there?" He asked as I helped him down; I held his small hand tightly.
