CHAPTER 67 No time for games

  Nolan's POV

  My thoughts wandered back to my beta Simon, and I closed my eyes, praying that he could be ok. This was all a mess, and I knew I had to resolve it and bring Evelyn and Ethan home where they belonged. I swore to myself that I would keep them both safe and not out of sight from then on. I could not bear to go through this again, and it was like I had had my heart ripped out of my body. I couldn't even reach out to my mate; it was like she had disappeared into thin air, but I wasn't about to give up.

  The beautiful city stood before us like a looming giant of steel and glass. Lights flickered in all directions, and it was breathtaking—nothing like back home. The constant honking of car horns and the crowded streets brought me back to the present moment.

  "Scan the area, and we must not leave anything untouched." I gestured for the driver to slow down. "We can't make ourselves obvious; we must keep our wits about us."
