Evelyn's POV
"They have gone, whoever they are," Griffin whispered, and I felt relief wash over me. I was tired and fed up. I just wanted to go home. I looked down at Ethan, who was silent against my chest. I could see he was exhausted, and I knew we could not stay here; it wasn't safe for my son. He needed to be at home in his warm bed. If Griffin weren't going to get us there, then I would do it myself. I did not need help from him, this was all his darn fault anyway.
"Griffin, I need to go home. Ethan can't be out here. It's too dangerous." I said, glaring at him. He turned around, and the colour drained from his face; I could see he knew I was right. I also knew he didn't want me to be away from him. But I had to. Griffin wasn't right for me. Since seeing Nolan and giving in to the connection, I did not want it to need anyone else. Nolan was my mate; I needed him. Nolan was supposed to protect Ethan and me.
