CHAPTER 43 Let Him

  Eryn POV

We have been at the cabin for a week. Atticus has kept a respectful distance since the first night. I sleep in bed, and he sleeps on the floor.

When I rejected him, I expected him to be angry with me, but he wasn't. He was understanding and kind. He whispered that he understood and tucked me into the bed.

Atticus fell asleep quickly that night, but I did not. I tossed and turned in the little bed, wondering if I had made a mistake or not. After all, why should I care about the bond between Kyle and me? Kyle doesn't care.

The smell of coffee fills the cabin, waking me from another night of restless sleep. My eyes flutter open and Atticus is sitting on the side of the bed with two mugs in his hands. Sitting up in the bed, I take one of the mugs from him, and he smiles.

"Are you ready to try again?" He smiles brightly.

I groan before I take a sip of the coffee. It is just how I like it. Atticus is waiting for me to respond.
