CHAPTER 61 Threatened

  LUKE

I drag myself into the pack house. After Kat stormed off, Atom and I needed another run. I needed to burn off energy, so I didn't say something else to upset her.

I am naked and caked in mud. As much as I tried to keep Atom out of the river, he insisted on going for a swim.

My mother is waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs. Her hands are crossed over her chest, and she is tapping her foot impatiently.

"Where have you been?" She snaps at me.

"I wasn't aware I still had a curfew," I snap back at her.

She and I are still not seeing eye to eye after I killed my father. She will never forgive me for killing her mate, and I know that. But I still love her. She is my mother.

"Your mate is going to have a hard time adjusting," she scolds me. "You should have been here to comfort her."

"She doesn't want my comfort." I am aware that I sound like a whiny child.

"You are her mate!" My mother raises her voice. "She needs you."
